Fertility nutritionist

We are thinking of booking a fertility nutritionist to try help with TTC

We are looking into ivf in the NY so just wanted to try this before hand

To get healthy and to feel better about ourselves anyway would be a positive

Anyone done this ? Or can recommend it? Pricing and is it worth it or can you find your own information online rather than paying out as assume it will be expensive!!

Thanks x

I looked into having a consultation with a Dietitian as I am vegan and TTC (never followed through with it in the end as Covid happened and it didn't seem a priority!). It wasn't that expensive (in the context of IVF!) - about £70 from what I recall for an online session. She felt a one off session would be sufficient with perhaps 1 follow up if I wanted it.

I would look for a Dietitian who specialises in this area rather than a nutritionist if you can - Dietitians are regulated by the Health Care Professions Council, same as physios etc. Anyone can call themselves a nutritionist with minimal training unfortunately (not disputing there are probably some excellent ones, but it is more hit and miss). I'd also steer clear of anyone recommending loads of additional tests etc. My consultant said as long as you eat and healthy balanced diet that is sufficient, which sounds logical really. I might still pursue a consultation at some point for my own interest, if I get round to it!

Thanks @MGee123 I've found someone who said she can help but I would prefer someone who specialises in fertility
Her Facebook page / website was really basic and hardly any info
I'm happy for zoom call so don't even need to stay local
I'll keep looking thanks for the info re dietician that's really helpful x

I think you can prob get loads of info from books - It Starts With An Egg author has a cook book and recommends the Mediterranean diet - olive oil, fish, chicken, fruit, veg, nuts, seeds, limit carbs to ancient grains like rice, quinoa, oats etc but only fill quarter plate. Reduce or cut sugar, booze, caffeine and gluten with treats like dark choc or a glass of red wine.
I'm following it to lose a bit of weight in prep for ivf - and hoping that or cutting sugar/gluten/caffeine might help me conceive naturally.

Hello all! Generally I think the Mediterranean diet is very healthy and balanced, and I generally follow it, I eat only home cooked meals and snacks. But I'm still struggling with weight loss. I do have PCOS and I would love to loose some weight before starting IVF but I don't know what else to do.
