Post Egg retrieval pain

Hi all,

I had my egg retrieval 4 days ago and my whole ovary area still feels so sore. I'm so bloated but don't have much nausea.

It's sore to walk and my belly is very sensitive and hard to the touch. They've scheduled me in for egg implantation tomorrow but I don't know if I'm ready and whether I should hold off till December.

Has any had the same experience please?

My nurses always seem to be in a hurry on the phone and are saying that bloating and soreness is normal but I'm reading that women tend to be up on their feet and moving around the day after egg extraction!

I've only been lying down in the house where I can. It's really uncomfortable shuffling around the house as well.

TIA

I had mine exactly 4 days ago too!

I have some bloating but less than before, some pain but less than before and a stitch on my right side.

You know your body so it's really difficult for any of us to say what's normal and what's not.

How do you feel when up and about?

@noconnor9 how're you feeling now ?

Hello everyone! Hope everything went well on your part. Im a fan of mumsnet & i never thought of myself being here sharing my own experience. I feel you guys! I had my egg collection 2days ago & i cried cos i felt everything during the procedure. Anyway, i managed. Got home feeling sore until now!!! Im taking buscopan & paracetamol 2x a day (trying to minimised my intake). Drinking chamomile tea, plenty of water & also hot water bottle is my buddy at the moment. Lying down most of the time as i cant walk straight & the piercing pain is always present. I used to go out walking our dog with my partner but sometimes im missing it as i cant walk properly. Few times ive been out with them but im walking funny. Have to put pressure on both of my ovaries as i feel the pain. My transfer will be this coming saturday & hope i will be healed by then. Keeping positive & hope its all worth it!Smile. I would love to hear your thoughts.

@noconnor9 and @EV08 - I'm so sorry to hear that it's been difficult post-collection! Whilst I definitely had some bloating afterwards, I'm definitely in the "didn't feel anything during collection procedure and can move around just fine" camp. On the odd occasion the bloating got uncomfortable, I had a high-fibre smoothie and it worked wonders. This is the recipe for the best one I've had:
2x celery sticks, half cucumber, ginger, 1xapple, half fennel bulb, lemon juice, spinach

But frankly, if you don't have these ingredients at hand any high fibre blend will do (I did a broccoli & onion with soup stock blend right after collection, and that kept the bloating at tolerable levels. 3 ingredients, so very simple).

Hope this helps! x

Thanks for the lovely tip of yours @indigocloud. Really appreciate it.

Now i wonder if embryo transfer is more painful than egg retrieval? Ive done hysteroscopy last May. Only had 2x paracetamol nothing else that feels like a murder. 2 doctors done the job as the 1st dr struggled & i must say its very harsh but i have recovered quite fast compare to this.

Im wondering what to expect before the transfer? What sort of pain reliever they will administer? Is it the same as egg retrieval? A bit worried Hmm TIA

Hi @EV08 I think it will depend on your clinic. Which one are you with?

I've not yet gone for my transfer (it's tomorrow. Eek! Keep me in your thoughts!) So sadly can't say much at all. But hopefully it's all smooth and I can share some more afterwards.

Hi, I had a collection 2 days ago (Tuesday). No anaesthetic, just morphine. I have a very high pain threshold usually, but found the whole thing borderline unbearable. I really don't know if I could go through it again without any anaesthesia. I must be extra sensitive there as apparently 95% of their patients say it was much less painful than anticipated. Which makes me feel really embarrassed for some reason, i hate making a fuss. Anyway on top of that I only had 7 to retrieve. The rest of the first day was very uncomfortable, but the next morning i felt much better than anticipated. Today even better still. Although the thought of running makes me feel a bit queezy. Still quite delicate, but no pain when resting at all.
