Hi has anyone experienced irregular periods? Iv been off pill 3 years and theyve been between 22-42 days... struggling to track ovulation. I do have pcos which doctors have prescribed me a non contraceptive hormone tablets (norethisterone) has anyone taken these? If so has your periods become regular along with ovulation?

Hey, yes I have similar problems so trying to conceive very difficult. I’m a bit concerned as the tablet you are taking (Norethisterone) are to stop your period. I have these if I am going to holiday or have an event and want to delay my period.

Copied from the web.....
Norethisterone is a synthetic hormone which mimics the effect of the bodies naturally occurring hormone progesterone. It can have multiple uses, however, it is often used as a tablet to delay periods.

It is also used in short protocol IVF where you don't down reg so the idea is similar - it is to quieten the ovaries a bit so the follicles all begin at a similar size. I would imagine the theory here is to "reset" your cycle

Hi 😊

I have PCOS and my gynaecologist put me on northisterone. I had to take them every 3/4 months for 5 days then stop. After a couple of days I would have a bleed.

The whole point of them in this case is to force your body to bleed in the hope it will regulate your periods and to bleed without them.

Unfortunately they didn't work for me though. I am now with a new dr who has put me on Metformin. Waiting on my next app to see how that goes.
