Changing Clinics....and consultant notes

Hi - we are considering cycle 3 but really not happy with the service we are getting from current clinic. The big pull of staying with current clinic is that they don’t require us to repeat any of the existing tests, bloods, scans, consultations etc - all the things that can add £1000 to the cost before you’ve even begun.

What are the rules / principles around asking a doctor from one clinic to release his clinics notes to another? I’m not sure that I want to stay with this clinic just because it’s the easy option but neither do I want to start from scratch.

Anyone got any experience of this or advice?

I've not done it, but under GDPR laws you should have the right to any data the current clinic holds on you. I'd imagine if you put a request in for a copy of all your notes they would give them to you and you could pass them on to another clinic?

Thanks - I’m just wondering whether any new clinic would still insist on it’s own tests.

I think I’ve become quite cynical about it all - all consultations are now on zoom, I asked about a baseline scan but they’ve not got back to me, that’s a common theme, the communication is awful and we just felt we paid an awful lot last time and it’s didn’t feel like a ‘private’ service at all. But I reckon we will save between £1000 and £1500 staying there rather than starting with a new clinic.

@Youngatheart00 I didn't ask for full notes but I did ask for test results and I got sent them without any problems

Thanks @MabelG and did the new clinic accept them and didn’t ask you to repeat?

@Youngatheart00 yes they accepted them so long as they were not out of date - for example semen analysis is valid for 2 years. And you are right, you will be saving at least £1,000 if you can use existing results
