Endometrial scratch?

I'm starting my second egg collection round after three failed transfers at the end of this month. The nurse said do I want an endometrial scratch. At first I thought why not. But I have just done a bit of research and seen a study from I think 2019 that says it makes no difference. What do you all think?

Also, does anyone know if it means I can't try naturally this month (cycle before I start) as the scratch would be in a couple of weeks. I forgot to ask the nurse but I assume it does mean no unprotected sex and therefore yet another a missed chance/month.

I booked it in but now I'm leaning towards cancelling.

I had 3 embryo transfers and had the endo scratch each time. I think I wanted to know I had done everything possible to increase my chances, even though I know the latest evidence is sketchy. I got pregnant after each transfer. Coincidence? I’ll never know.

@TaVeryMuchLove thank you for replying. I'm glad it worked for you. Could you not try naturally the month of the scratch? I think I'd go for it as what's an extra few hundred pounds in the many thousands I've spent/am spending but I don't want to lose a natural month of trying if it's unlikely to help. I've had two natural pregnancies (one baby) so it's not impossible.

It’s very invasive. I think it’s only recommend for those with recurrent implantation failure. You can keep trying naturally I wasn’t told not to have sex. X

I had the scratch on my second and successful ICSI cycle. I can’t say for definite whether it helped as lots of variables changed between cycle #1 & #2 but if I was to go through a cycle again, I would do it.

I did it because a friend had two successful rounds of IVF/ FET with the scratch, and I thought it was worth a try.

@seven201 I can’t comment on trying naturally as my situation was a bit different in that we had IVF because my husband had a vasectomy in previous marriage which resulted in complications so couldn’t be reversed. Trying naturally isn’t an option for us! I too had the endo scratch based on friend’s positive experiences, but you’ll never know for certain whether it helped or not. If I was to do another round though, I would definitely have it again. My first round got cancelled so I’ve actually had 4 in totally. They’re not particularly painful, just a bit uncomfortable at that moment. Not a big deal at all.

It's included in my package but I can choose not to have it. I'm also undecided....

@MF1981 it's so hard to decide. I asked a nurse about it when I had an appt today but she wasn't much help.

I started to read this and was all for cancelling until I got to the end!

Sounds like not worth it if you're new to ivf but might help if you've had failed attempts. I'd be doing it no problem if it meant I could still try naturally this month, but the nurse confirmed I can't.

I watched a webinar hosted by Fertility Network where a doctor was quite cynical about "extras" which put me off a bit - I'll have a read of the article, thanks!

I just spoke to one of clinic doctors on the phone about it. She said there's no evidence to show it helps but she did agree that they haven't done research on women who have had a few failures so that's not entirely relevant to me.

She did say I probably don't have a problem with implantation as I have a naturally conceived Dd and have had one miscarriage. Then she went on to say maybe I should have some embryos pgs tested but I don't think I want that.

I think I'm leaning towards not doing the scratch.

I'm not doing the scratch this time. Just writing that so that lots of people don't come on and tell me that I definitely should do it, as it's too late now!
