Hi ladies I’ve had 8 miscarriages in the last year and now my tests have faded so think in few days bleeding will start with my 9th I’m so down about this I’ve tried to be hopeful and told to keep trying I’ve had all the tests done including karotyping and all came back clear including my internal ultrasound scan .. I’ve tried progesterone and asprin nothing worked so far I’m so down about it seeing pregnant ladies older than me and with higher bmi seen more pregnant ladies today and it’s starting to make me feel really bitter and that’s not me 😓 my question is has anyone else had this many in a row and been successful I’m ready for giving up it’s heartbreaking getting positives to see them fade I’ve had 2 children before with no problems I’m at my wits end emotionally .. any advice much appreciated x

Hi @tinkerbell999 I'm sorry to hear about your losses. Can I suggest the pred threads for help? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/miscarriage/3914106-Immune-NK-Issues-aka-Pred-Thread-no-25?pg=20
I found them really helpful.

If you've had 8 within 1 year I am guessing these were chemical pregnancies where you'd have a BFP for a couple of days and then get your period?

In the first instance I'd really try giving your body a break - have a period or two first before trying again. Constant chemical pregnancies could be a sign you just aren't giving your lining time to recover enough to support a healthy pregnancy

I also wouldn't take aspirin unless a doctor has specifically said you have a medical need as it can actually cause miscarriages in those that take it when they don't need to

Prednisolone is an option but it's very difficult to get hold of at the moment as it's a steroid which lowers your immune system and most doctors are refusing to proscribe it due to covid. Also you'd need a confirmed medical need to get it - you won't get it on the NHS. NK cell testing can be done privately for about £500

Yes mostly chemical pregnancies the gynaecologist has scanned me internally and said my womb lining is fine no fibroids polips etc and is the right shape I was prescribed asprin and cyclogest I asked if I should have a break and she said there is no need to have a break in between and to just keep trying .. they said I could be prescribed steroids but I don't bother calling them until my tests get stronger which they haven't we had karotyping done so we are compatible I've had every test you can get in the nhs I believe the steroids are the same thing they will give for nkc anyway just so frustrated as they never go past 4 weeks starting to wonder if will ever happen :(

I did go to 11 weeks with one but was a real bad one where I stood up in the bath and the foetus fell out and I collapsed after climbing out the bath was very close to a blood transfusion was awful I know when it's happening I get cramps a week or so before period and then again after faint positives then I bleed on pretty much the same day my period would be due so frustrating and hurtful as to why my body keeps failing me

@tinkerbell999 Really sorry to hear your bad experiences.. i did not want to walk away from this post without expressing how bad i feel reading it. I have gone through 3 ivf failures including an early miscarriage for my first child and can understand your pain to a certain extent.. pls hang in there and be kind to yourself 💗

skot · 07/10/2020 00:25

@tinkerbell999 - so so sorry you had to go through this.
I spoke to my GP yesterday (going through miscarriage after IVF) and she said after 3 miscarriages gp can referr to specialized miscarriage clinic. You may have already been referred to them, but thought to mention
Good luck 🤞

I'm sorry to hear this @tinkerbell999 ❤️ I have just had my 4th miscarriage (my third missed mc) and currently have no answers. I've had the recurrent miscarriage blood tests (sticky blood etc) and paid privately for nk cells testing and all clear. Have you had your thyroid checked? Ideally it should be under 2.5, but closer to 2 is preferable. I was borderline so am on a low dose of levothyroxine.

I've found there is a limit to the tests the nhs can do, so we're exploring private testing now. I'm convinced that I have immune factors. The consultant who did my nk cells biopsy prescribed progesterone which I took this time and has suggested I try steroids next time, but there isn't a clinical need that's suggested I need this, so it feels a bit trial and error now. But I'm willing to try anything.

I hope you get some answers soon.

skot · 07/10/2020 09:56

@VenusStarr may I ask where did you get your NK testing done? I have 4 MC/chemicals. My gp said NHS might not do any tests for me as it's a mix of natural+ IVF. Which is a bit annoying. Hence looking at private options too

skot · 07/10/2020 09:57

Oh, and I have hypothyroid since 2011. But it's within range at the moment.

VenusStarr · 07/10/2020 10:04

Hi @skot I'm sorry for your losses ❤️ I went to Coventry implantation clinic under Professor Brosens. It's 2 uterine biopsies and costs £500. They were closed for ages during covid, but I think they were planning on reopening this month. I only had one due to covid but that was normal. I'm going to see if I can get the second for peace of mind, once I've recovered from this miscarriage, but it's just to draw a line under it. I'm considering the blood nk cells testing with Dr Shehata as that looks for different things.

With the biopsy, you need to not ttc and get tested at 7-10dpo and need to have not had a miscarriage in the 2 cycles preceeding the biopsy.

I would also question the GP - after 3 miscarriages you can be tested for recurrent losses. I was referred after 2 losses due to my age and that it had taken me 18 months to concieve the first time, so we were in the fertility pathway for ivf.

tinkerbell999 · 07/10/2020 10:28

I've had all the test blood clotting lh surge karotyping thyroid tests I have a under active thyroid which is now within normal limits had all I can get on nhs they said to call next time I get a positive to try some preventative treatment so I'm assuming steroids but my tests are still faint but I'm 6 days away from af so I suppose that's normal I shouldent test early but I can't help it tried progesterone prssaries made no difference but then again my levels were within normal range x

@VenusStarr - That's very helpful. I will look at the clinic and doctor.
My gp will recommend me to miscarriage unit but she is not sure if they will accept me.
