IVF Couriers and Embryoport?

Hi all,

I’m looking into moving embryos between two clinics in the UK. Been through a lot for these, and the thought of anything happening to them is unthinkable. Apparently couriers aren't checked/ regulated (which blows my mind) so reviews mean a lot, and for some reason I haven't been able to find many online, esp for 'IVF Couriers'.

My clinic suggested four companies, and these two look the most promising, but any more info or experiences (positive or negative) would be really helpful.

Embryoport

IVF Couriers

Thank you x

No personal experience but I’ve read on here before that someone transferred theirs themselves. I think they were able to borrow the storage box from the clinic and they drove them to the new clinic. I remember making a mental note of this because I’d also be so nervous about transporting mine. Might be worth asking your clinic if you would feel more comfortable doing it yourself?

Thanks Betsyboo. Yes my old clinic said that was on option, and that I should ask the new clinic if I could borrow a dry shipper (think it's normally the 'receiving' clinic that lends them) but unfortunately they don't do that. Maybe the old clinic would take pity and lend us one.....certainly would save a bit of money (but would be SO nervous).

Hi cat Fika, have you made any decisions as I want to move mine from one clinic to another in early November however I’m petrified of something happening to them but too scared to do it myself.

@Pineapples1980 who did you go for? I'm now in same position too. x

I used IVF couriers to transport my frozen eggs from New York (where they were collected) to Hong Kong (where I live and was about to stay IVF), so not a simple journey! And they managed everything in a very professional manner, with 0 hiccups (even though the plane out of NY was delayed by a snow storm!). My eggs went on to produce many blasts so they don’t seem to have been harmed.

Hi I used Embryoport to move frozen blasts between clinics in London and I found them to be really good. Apparently all went well but I’m yet to have my transfer so I guess I won’t know they’re ok until they are thawed out!

Can someone advise on the cost of Embryoport? Would be transferring just up the road from one side of Harley St to another.

OhPeanuts · 16/02/2021 17:01

It’s a fixed fee for transport in London. I think £250

Catfinkz · 16/02/2021 17:02

Hi, I went with Embryoport in the end and found them to be very professional (good comms). You'd need to get an individual quote, but their prices start at £250, so I imagine it would be in that region.

Hi. I'm a newbie to mumsnet. Ive joined the thread as I'm also now trying to decide between embroport and IVF Couriers (or another company if anyone has suggestions.) Its for an international transfer of embryos so quite terrifying. Has anyone used them sucessfuly transferring between countries? Thanks

Catfinkz · 18/03/2021 21:35

I have only used Embryoport within the uk, but I thought they were good. The courier is an embryologist herself, and takes a backup dry shipper in case anything goes wrong (this is very rare/ unlikely btw) but I found it reassuring to know there was a backup plan.
