Antisperm antibodies

Has anybody solved the problem of antisperm antibodies and gone on to conceive naturally? DH has been diagnosed with these and I'm wondering what we can do, apart from icsi. We did a round of icsi last year and were very lucky that it worked and we have one young dc. However I'm looking at a ticking clock and a depleted bank balance and wondering how we can give ourselves the best chance of growing our family whilst remaining solvent.

I hope this message not insensitive as I know many are struggling with conceiving one child and would consider that enough, which of course it is! Please feel free to pm me with any questions around icsi for antibodies and gynae recommendation in London. Like most on here, I read it starts with the egg, etc etc, but ultimately I think we were just lucky. X

Hello we are in exactly the same position husband 57% ASA
Very lucky to have one child through ICSI would love to know if there's another way as facing another cycle in Oct but very expensive

Ah well nice to have company if not answers! I've forgotten our stat but think it's similar. We may go again with icsi in December. I read somewhere about vit c which is probably worth a go. But I don't want to waste too much time on a long shot as my ageing eggs won't be getting any better in there! What's your plan?

I've looked into lots of things Vit C etc but nothing seems to give positive results.

I'm 39 next week so going for another cycle starting end of Oct. I get the impression from consultants it's relatively easy to solve with ICSI so as long as all ok otherwise it's the best option.

This will be my second cycle, how about you?

Yep 2nd as well. I didn't mind it too much first time round but I'm really not looking fwd to it this time. Feel like the 18 month gap since last time might mean everything has declined and it will all be more difficult. Plus will have to stop breast feeding I think :-(. But I think better to crack on

My last cycle was 5 years ago, I've had a few failed Frozen cycles in between. Consultant said I still had a good chance, he said if you've had a baby before from ICSI it really helps.
I just wish there was an easier and cheaper way to do it Smile

So was the reason 5 years ago antibodies? And has your dh been checked again for them recently? I heard sometimes they do go away on their own but not sure if that's right or not!

Yes reason 5 years ago was the same, I asked for a copy of the most recent sperm analysis and they said I had to put a formal request in. The consultant said it would be ICSI due to antibodies but didn't give me a figure.
I think I will request a copy as it would be good to see.
I know now as a matter of process most places don't even test for antibodies- (NICE guidelines) anymore.

Hi guys sorry to impose but my DH has the same thing and I'm freaking out as I have PCOS too!

He had igA 38% and igG 62%. Does that mean he has 100% ASA?

It doesn't make sense as he had an extremely high sperm count and mobility 🤦‍♀️.

Is it even worth trying to conceive naturally if his sperm is essentially meaningless

Thank you

Hi I'm not too sure, I know if the Antibody test is over 50% it's classed as high and I heard unlikely conception?? So I'm not sure if you add your two results together?

What has the consultant said have they recommended ICSI?

81Poppy · 17/10/2020 17:13

Hi ladies just wanted to let you know I asked for a breakdown of sperm results

IGA negative and IGg 10% head

Not too sure what it means but it would suggest some improvements?? So maybe they can decrease by themselves??
