Hi all,

I had a telephone appointment with my rheumatology team two weeks ago and they sent a follow up letter to my GP and me.

On the letter it has two conditions to do with my arthritis then it says Endometriosis.

I have a telephone appointment with a Gynae on weds to discuss possible endo as I have symptoms but the rheumatology team have listed it as a diagnosis already?
I’ve had ultrasounds but no endo was seen in those.

I’m confused, sad and cross if the Gynae does say he thinks it’s endo and I’ve found out through a letter. I don’t know what this means for us as currently we’re being told it’s unexplained infertility.

Any advice would be great as I’m using this site and google to try to get answers before weds.

What would the next steps be for us?

Thanks
L x

Hi @Lifeisstressful
Only laparoscopy can confirm it if you have endo or not, I suspect you will be reffered for a surgery. Hopefully laparoscopy will give you some answers.

Thanks for replying @Chicasimona
I’m hoping this is the case as I was shocked then I received the letter stating endo as a diagnosis when it hasn’t been investigated.

Do you know whether after a laparoscopy they leave you to try naturally or go for ivf? We’ve been trying for nearly two years with no success at all. All other tests are ok

The letter contents certainly need to be discussed with the gynae. Did you have a CA125 test done, this may well have been why endo has been flagged,

Do not accept unexplained sub fertility as a diagnosis. All this means is that they have failed to find out what is wrong. Sometimes it is a diagnosis given to couples when they have not been adequately investigated. I doubt very much that you’ve actually had all the tests done as a couple because some tests get actively missed out.

If a lap is done they will probably leave you to try naturally before IVF is considered.

I don’t even know what that test is so I’m guessing not @AttilaTheMeerkat what is it and how do they do it? If they’ve done it then they haven’t discussed it with me 🤷🏼‍♀️

I have said to my husband that I don’t believe in things being unexplained!
