OvuSense chart help

Hi Ladies,

I hope it’s okay for me to post here. I have no known fertility issues but have been TTC for almost 2 years and other than a chemical in March no hint of a BFP.

In a last ditch attempt to figure out what’s going on before I make a doctors appointment I purchased an OvuSense sensor. This is my first month of using it and today is CD22 (started using it the night of CD8 so first recorded temp is CD9).

My early temps were really high as if been eating healthily but fell off the wagon on those first three days so those temps can be disregarded. That said, my later temps don’t seem that much higher than my lower temps earlier in my cycle and the sensor has not confirmed ovulation. Is it likely I haven’t ovulated this month or have those spiked temps just thrown things off?

This sensor was supposed to help but it’s giving me more questions than answers!

Anyone have any knowledge of these graphs?

Thanks

Hey there. I've used Ovusense in the past and just looking at the graph I don't think you have ovulated. Generally you should see the temperature rise each day for three days and then sustained high temps. Do you know what day your normally ovulate? The Ovusense facebook group is quite useful for getting feedback on graphs. x

Thanks @Cagee my ovulation is all over the place which is why I purchased ovusense. I believe my LP is 11 days which would mean for the previous 2 months I ovulated on CD 20. My CM has turned sticky and have sore boobs so I’m guessing if I having already ovulated I’m probably not going to this month.

That’d be Sod’s law that the month I get something to help me figure out what’s going on I don’t actually ovulate! 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

You never know..keep on temping and see what happens. It would be useful for you to see the temps for a full cycle. I normally use OPKs to indicate when I'm going to ovulate and use ovusense at the same time to check that I have ovulated. Ovusense itself will give you a good knowledge of your cycle (if your cycle is regular) but I would still use OPKs to pinpoint when ovulation is going to take place x

Watching this with interest as my Ovusense arrived today so going to start using it tomorrow night (have my mum staying over tonight and didn't fancy whipping the instructions out to have a read when she's here).

Do they say it's ok to start using mid cycle or do they suggest starting at the beginning of a new one?

Thanks @Cagee when I look at the individual daily temps every day they have been higher than my lower temps earlier on in my cycle (excluding the days when I was eating crap) which makes me think maybe I have ovulated but have low progesterone which is why my temps aren’t rising as much as they should? Idk I’m clutching at straws but I am going to continue using it until my next cycle as the data has to be a good thing for future cycles.

They say providing your cycle didn’t start more than 20 days ago you can start using it straight away @Smoby

@Waiting2BAMummy I'm not sure that eating badly would effect your temps that much. With ovulation you normally see a distinct sharp rise so I'm not sure if you have ovulated ..although I see what you mean about the individual temps being higher. It's hard to know! Keep on temping anyway as the more information you have the better!

@Smoby you can def start using mid cycle although you may have already missed the lead up to ovulation which is the key time you should be using it for. I usually start using it around CD7/8. Good luck!

Hi guys

Well my Ovusense confirmed ovulation on Weds this morning which is really interesting as this was the day of my first positive opk (I normally get positives for 2 days).

I always assumed that I ovulated the day after a positive opk. I know they say you ovulate 12-48 hours after a positive, and I must be on the shorter side of that. So it shows the importance, for me, of making sure we dtd leading up to ovulation (as I understand we are more fertile in the days leading to ovulation rather than on ovulation day itself). This information from Ovusense is invaluable!

A couple of questions for those who have been using Ovusense regularly:

  1. if I keep using Ovusense for the rest of my cycle, is it possible that Ovusense will change my confirmed ovulation day?

  2. can I now expect that ovulation will generally be the same day as a positive opk or is it possible to vary from month to month whether it's day of positive opk or 24 hours after a positive etc?

Thanks!

Hey there @smoby,
1)I think Ovusense can change the confirmed ovulation however it's never happened to me. Ovusense looks for 3 consecutive days of a temperature rise to confirm ovulation (you might see a temp dip on the day of ovulation), so if your temp did happen to rise for 3 days then dip again, it might change the confirmation date. Generally you would see a steep temp rise after ovulation so I would like out for that if you're not sure if Ovusense has got it wrong.
2) What opk do you use? I use Clear Blue digital and the 'peak' day is nearly always the same day as Ovusense confirms ovulation. But like you say its the days leading up to ovulation that you need to dtd so even if ovulation is the day of the positive opk or the day after, you should probably be dtd in the days before the peak opk.
Hope that makes sense!
x

@Cagee thank you for the reply!! Interesting that you ovulate on day of positive opk too. Will have to try to time dtd in advance of positive opk but with irregular cycles like mine, it can be hard to know when that is! Hopefully a few months of Ovusense will help with that!

Hi

I was wondering whether any Ovusense users can help with my chart? This is only my second month using it. I have irregular cycles but PCOS has been ruled out.

I got a positive OPK on a Clearblue digi last Sunday. I didn't really have my usual ovulation symptoms and Ovusense hasn't confirmed ovulation. I've started spotting today so I think it must've been an anovulatory cycle. Is this what my chart would look like if it was anovulatory?
