IVF finance packages - 50% refund if 38-39 - any experience of these?

Hi all, hope you can help with a query.

Our private clinic partners with a finance company that offers refund packages.

If you're aged 38-39 and sign up for three IVF cycles, you get a 50% refund if you don't have a baby.

I'll be asking lots of questions of the clinic, of course - but I'm interested to hear others' experiences. It might help me know which questions to ask!

Can you 'mix and match' types of IVF? For example, if you did one cycle of traditional IVF and responded poorly, could the next two cycles then be natural modified IVF, within the same package?

I have a low egg supply, so may not respond well to traditional IVF.

Guys I just found out we've been accepted onto the 3 cycle 50% refund programme - I'm so pleased!

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/09/2020 22:10

Fab. Congrats

Can I ask how much it is

And assume drugs and blood tests etx aren’t included

Researching for a friend around that age

MF1981 · 22/09/2020 14:58

@Blondeshavemorefun it’s £16900 for that package and you’re right in that drugs and any pre treatment blood tests aren’t included. You do get unlimited FETs as well.

CC81 · 22/09/2020 19:04

@MF1981 - That's wonderful news :) Also, thanks for sharing your info with me.

Unfortunately, it's looking like I won't be eligible for the refund package, due to my test scores - I'm physically fine, but my egg supply is low (which makes me a not-ideal candidate for IVF).

But the multi-cycle deal may be an option, if we decide to pursue treatment. It's a tough decision!

£17k plus drugs so prob £1500 a cycle if I R.E.M. mine so prob £22k and get a refund if doesn’t work for 3 cycles and unlimited fet

Sounds good thanks will pass on

@CC81 sorry you weren’t eligible

MF1981 · 22/09/2020 19:24

@CC81 have you spoken to Access? We decided if we weren’t accepted on the 3 cycle refund then we would probably go for the 2 cycle option as it does save some money. Although you have to do the maths as it’s close. If you’re on long protocol and have a high medication bill then it might not be much of a saving. Depends how much your clinic charge of course.

MF1981 · 22/09/2020 19:26

@Blondeshavemorefun it depends on your protocol - I’m on short protocol so my drugs are about £1k but long protocol I would guess is more. For the 38-38 age group it’s only a 50% refund but younger people can get up to 100% refund.

MF1981 · 22/09/2020 19:26

@Blondeshavemorefun sorry I meant 38-39!

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/09/2020 21:03

I was short but as replied earlier needed few more days and was £150 a day so nearly another £500

It adds up very quickly !! :(

Ellsiedodah · 22/09/2020 22:03

Hi all:) Where are you all planning to do your treatment and when? Im 38, amh 1.1 and suffering secondary infertility (though 3 years ago my amh was 8, so not exactly high). We're in the middle of selling our flat in London to move out west so it's very difficult working out where to do it. I thought the bath clinic near frome seems cheapest but they weren't clear about what drugs would cost for me - I kept being told around 2k per cycle which just can't be right for mild ivf...?! Otherwise we were quoted around 17.5k for 3 cycles by Wimbledon Create. Thats drugs and everything.

MF1981 · 23/09/2020 06:39

Hey @Ellsiedodah. I’m in the midlands and starting treatment end of October. £2k for drugs sounds a lot. The Wimbledon quote sounds good - I’ve heard that ivf is often cheaper in London as there’s so much more competition!

CC81 · 23/09/2020 16:05

@humidifierx - Yeah, it's so hard to process... that it could be so easy the first time, and then so hard. It's been a shock to me, too.

I've just been accepted by access fertility.

Really struggling to choose between 3 cycle 100% and 2 year unlimited 100%

Any advice!

strawberrysummer19 · 02/12/2020 10:08

Hi @wdub40
I know it's been a while just wondering how you are getting on and what you decided ?

We have our consultation in a few weeks and are thinking either the 2 or 3 cycle but not sure and not even sure we will be eligible
Xx

wdub40 · 02/12/2020 10:42

We chose the 2 year unlimited because I'm always choosing the top level for everything, rightly or wrongly.

I've had one cycle - BFP! I'm waiting for a scan to confirm everything is ok though. So nervous!

strawberrysummer19 · 02/12/2020 10:59

@wdub40 wow that's amazing! Congrats !

My options are either 2 or 3 cycle but 50% refund so just not sure what to do

X

poinsettiared · 02/12/2020 11:27

I would go three for sure. What's the price difference?

I think the nhs suggest 3 rounds minimum so I would take that as a good number to punt for xx

CC81 · 31/12/2020 11:42

@humidifierx - How are you doing?

Little update from me (as I started this thread and it may be helpful/hopeful for others).

To my surprise, I got pregnant naturally in October, despite my low AMH/AFC and high FSH.

Now 13 weeks and all looks ok so far. And it's twins! I'm still very cautious, but we'll see.

Another update - our twins were born a few weeks ago :)
