Anyone done PGS with Create?

Hello! My partner and I are looking to seek IVF with Create in London and I'm wondering if anyone has done the same, with PGS included? Really keen to pursue this route but would love to hear from those who've done so. If you can share your experience, I'll be really grateful.

I would also be interested in this question. I’m just considering who to book our next cycle with and I am considering Create, but I’m Manchester. Any info on the natural modified route would be appreciated x

Hello

Can't advise on PGS but can recommend Create (Wilmslow) I have been with them since February and they have been really good, staff very friendly.
Had 1st cycle and had to freeze due to Covid , first FET failed and I'm currently 6 weeks pregnant on my 2nd FET attempt. I only got 2 embryos so fingers crossed we get to 12 weeks as had some bleeding last Sunday, again they have been really good spoke to them Monday morning they said come straight in for blood test so they could recheck my hcg levels which came back good and then moved forward my scan which I had today

I was with Create Birmingham and am 16 weeks with twins

I also did PGS testing and because my embryologist was on annual leave when I had my egg collection we had it done out of the Create St Paul's office

I also did both mild short protocol and natural
Modified cycles with Create so can probably answer everyone's queries 🤣

@indigocloud

In answer to your PGS query

I was 36 and did PGS as part of my second short protocol cycle with Create (history of miscarriages) We only got 2 blastocysts to test and neither came back "normal". One had to be destroyed as was a complex abnormal (not allowed to transfer these in the U.K.) and the other was a low level mosaic (a monosomy 11) which I was allowed to transfer but it was a BFN

I decided not to test again but changed my protocol to natural modified IVF and my twins are from the next egg collection. I didn't PGS test them

My Create doctor asked my thoughts on PGS when I had my twins confirmed. It's not something done regularly at the Birmingham clinic i believe

My thoughts are now

  • I would only do it if I was over 40 and only wanted 1 child as odds are you'll only get 1 normal
  • only do it if you have at least 5 blastocysts to make it financially worth while
  • be prepared mentally that you could end up with nothing to transfer as they could all be abnormal and have to be destroyed
  • if you are prepared to transfer mosaics If they are all you get then ask yourself why you wanted to PGS in the first place?
  • be aware it was downgraded by the HFEA as there is insufficient evidence to say whether it increases success rates or not. That being said everyone I know who transferred a PGS normal embryos got their BFP
  • the science isn't 100% accurate - they only take 5 cells from a possible 100 from what will form the placenta. It's easy to miss "abnormal" cells in the sample so could get a "normal" result when actually had they picked 5 different cells it could have been graded abnormal. (Works the other way too in that could be told it's abnormal when has they picked 5 different cells could get a normal reading)
  • there is lots of evidence that embryos can correct themselves and so you could discard embryos which could have made a healthy baby. I joined a few Facebook groups when I was testing and in America it's much more common to transfer mosaics/segmental/abnormals and lots of them have had healthy babies

@Sian7919

I changed to natural modified IVF and it gave me my best results and my twins

I did 2 rounds of short protocol IVF with ICSI at Create first. My egg quality was found to be crap. Over 2 rounds I got a total of 28 eggs, less than 30% fertilised and I managed 4 average quality blastocysts. 3 BFN transfers and 1 ectopic

I then decided to change to natural modified - over 2 cycles I got 9 eggs but 100% fertilised and I got 4 top quality blastocysts - 2 are my twins and I have 2 more frozen

For me quality over quantity was absolutely what worked for me. As I stated with Create for all my cycles they were able to see a pattern and what best to try to get me the best result. They said why bother forcing my body to create 14 eggs each time if I'm only going to get 2 blastocysts as obviously my body just isn't able to make more than that and meant spreading quality thinly over more eggs. By focussing on much fewer follicles the quality of my eggs and blastocysts hugely increased

Also natural modified is very easy to do! In its purest form it's Tamoxifen tablets from cycle day 3 and then low dose stims every OTHER day. Egg come room day 12/13 so for me whole thing over in less than 2 weeks. No side effects and felt great throughout x

@Ijustlikefood - That's great to hear that they've been so good when things crop up. Fingers crossed for you for the weeks ahead!!

@ivfbeenbusy Wow, that's lovely! Did you go for PGS on your first egg extraction?

@ivfbeenbusy Just read your reply and it was extremely insightful. Very grateful for these thought provoking points. It looks like PGS isn't the right path for me and my SO at this point then. x

@ivfbeenbusy thank you so much for the info. Apologies but I’ve asked you a bunch of questions on the other thread. Would be grateful if you could answer or PM me. Unfortunately I have a complicated medical history, so I worry aged just turned 41, that may not have any decent eggs left. But I’d really like to give it a good go.

@Ijustlikefood congratulations on your pregnancy :@) is there anyone in particular you would recommend at Create Wilmslow? How often do they scan you during the process? Did you also do Natural modified? If so, what sort of results did it achieve for you? Xx

ChicaXS · 12/09/2020 09:13

Hi @Sian7919 honestly my opinion is to go for it due to your age. I’m 37 and was with create (London) and found them lazy and incompetent. The doctor was flinging recommendations as opposed to put me on a medical plan based on my criteria. I switched to Care and they have been amazing and I’m glad I walked away from create however regardless - the subject of PGS is conflicting and I’m choosing to do so after much research. I’d rather have the best chance possible and my reasons are for good reasons and I’m not buying the whole (after testing abnormal it’s a healthy baby!) as a high common denominator, it’s the opposite. PGS should be carefully reviewed, particularly with women over 40 with specialists in this exact field. Please before you make up your mind, speak to your embryologist in your clinic. They usually put you through training courses too before you opt for it. Their are many who can help on social media aswell and actual doctors and experts you should ask. I’m going for PGS with care after much research and training and will feel better settled transferring a PGS tested embryo. At the end of the day it’s a decision for your medical history and mental well-being that should be Supported by expert advise and not just the experiences of other women. C

@sian7979
I did mild ivf, I have low AMH and only got 3 eggs, honestly I was devastated but create are about quality not quantity which took me a bit to get my head around, but I got 2 5 day blasts one excellent grade which failed and one was good which I'm 6 weeks with at the moment

I did take ubiquinol after reading it starts with an egg, you have to start taking it minimum 3 months before treatment I genuinely don't know if it helped my egg quality as this was our first cycle so have nothing to compare to

All the staff are lovely and make you feel relaxed Danielle on reception is lovely, embryology team great explain everything really clearly and slowly , my consultant Dr Tamer he's very softly spoken and calming tone to his voice , they were also great throughout Covid got us to egg collection

If the unfortunate happens with this pregnancy we will definitely be doing our next cycle with them, the one negative is that appointments can run late

Sian7919 · 13/09/2020 17:06

@Ijustlikefood thank you for the information. I think we will go with Create, but will see what the consultant at St Mary’s says at our appointment regarding the failed cycle. I don’t think I will stay with them though as I don’t believe I had adequate monitoring. What does of Ubiquinol are you taking?

@ChicaXS I’m definitely going to go for it, as you say time is not on my side. I just hope we have a better outcome than this round which seemed to be a non-starter x
