Failed FET - receptivity testing?

Hi everyone, my first FET sadly failed. I have one embryo left. I just spoke with my clinic who told me I should just come again and do the next transfer and if that didn’t work then I should do the receptivity testing and more bloodwork.

Im nervous only having one embryo left and think i should do all the testing now.

Any advice? Has anyone done all of the testing and got positive results after? Is it very invasive and does it take long to do?

Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Hi @Parisinthesummer Sorry to hear your FET didn’t work Sad
I have had the ERA/EMMA/ALICE test this summer while the transfers were on hold.
I’d had a fresh transfer ending in MC at 6 weeks and 2 failed FET so they recommended us try them as we were kind of in the Reoccurring implantation failure group.
It came back totally fine, which means no infections or microbiome issues stopping it working and we know the right window to transfer in now.
They were expensive at £1200 but it’s kind of reassuring. I also made them do bloods for thyroid, lupus and anything else autoimmune I could think of! All annoyingly fine too!
Based on all this they said it could still be progesterone, so instead of a natural cycle they’ve had me do medicated with progesterone injections and not pessaries.
I have just got a faint BFP at 8dp5dt for I’m praying we’ve cracked it 🤞🏻
Did you have a medicated FET or natural? And did you have a fresh before? They normally don’t recommend tests until a few failures but it’s definitely worth talking about your options before using your remaining embryo xx

Hi @MrsT36 congratulations on BFP and hope its turns out to be auccesful pregnancy ! May i ask a question based on your experience - what is the difference between progesterone injection and pessaries ? Isnt it same thing in different form ? Also how does a test determine right window to transfer ? I have had 2 failed FeT and 1 more FET where i got bfp but ended up in an early m/c at seven weeks ( later confirmed as chemical pregnancy). Due to last Fet, my clinic thinks that implantation is not an issue - is that a fair assumption ?

@duckhouse sounds like we’ve got a similar history. My nurse said the progesterone injections are stronger and more easily absorbed and her words “painful but loads better” I think it’s also a higher dose.
The tests take a biopsy of your lining and based on the proteins or something in it they can pinpoint the most receptive window to a few hours. Mine was right when they’d normally transfer so wasn’t that much help! But apparently it can make a difference, and they can tailor your transfer if you’re on a medicated cycle.
They said to me Before the tests because we’d had a chemical that it’s likely issues with my embryo is as we’ve not tested them and it’s just bad luck. I did fee better at least ruling out problems with my lining as I’d hate to waste embryos if it had been something we could have changed.
Has your clinic suggested any other tests? X

Yea @MrsT36 my experience is so similar to yours.. however my clinic has just done a hystoscopy (to check womb lining for issues) and thats it ! No suggestion for further test and despite of 3 failures, they are saying its just bad luck so try one more time ! Infact they are seeing my last chemical pregnancy as somewhat positive thing 😐 that atleast my body could implant. May i ask which clinic you are with ? I am really hoping to change my clinic but stuck as i hv embryo frozen (no PSG offered too on request) there and its closeby in this covid situation

Hi @MrsT36 thanks for your reply. This is actually our first try. I have to use donor eggs due to early ovarian failure. Unfortunately we just got two embryos so just one left. The doctor was very blasé about it. She said they typically only suggest testing after two or three failures, she was pushing me to just come back asap for the next transfer. She said psychologically the testing is very difficult. But tbh after all the prep and then a bfn I can’t imagine it being harder than the transfer!

Can I ask how long did it take you to do all the testing and get the results? I read it is about one month??

Btw congrats on your bfp wonderful news 🙂
