Private diagnosis

Hi,
We are already under an NHS fertility clinic however they’ve said it is unexplained.
I have Gynae issues so have been pushing for a referral- they’re dragging their heels so I’ve just made an appointment with the local private hospital.

If my private Gynae diagnoses anything, will the NHS clinic take this into account?

Any experiences of private and NHS working together well?

We had private testing and then took those results to our GP. They've referred us for NHS funded treatment at a private clinic at our request. We could have gone to the NHS hospital for IVF, but we chose the private clinic with NHS funding. Our ccg had a contract with the private clinic anyway...

Thank you for replying @Vea1601
Great news and what I wanted to hear!

Slightly different but I've flipped in and out of private, I had the initial tests on NHS, then had trouble getting the referral so paid for a private consultation at a private clinic and took all the NHS results. During the appointment the private doctor filled out the forms for NHS funded ivf treatment

@ivfjourney5 that’s great news too, I just feel like we’re not being investigated enough and have just been told it’s unexplained even though when I had my transvaginal scan the lady said I had a low follicle count. I’ve never been told whether I’ve had AMH done and if so what that is, I’ve complained about endometriosis symptoms and the consultant phoned me and left a voicemail saying everything on my notes looked fine (he didn’t speak to me!) and good luck with the plan (the plan is to keep trying for another year)

I just feel like we’re being brushed aside so it doesn’t cost them anything.
Thanks for replying x

It cost us £395 at a private clinic for an pelvic ultrasound, amh blood test, semen analysis and hour consultation with a fertility consultant and the letter he wrote. The NHS won't have done the amh as they don't. Definitely the best money we've spent as I reckon it shaved 12 months of wasted NHS time. However I appreciate we're lucky to afford that. We can't afford private IVF though

That’s fab, so Ive had an ultrasound, transvaginal scan, two lots of bloods and husband has had SA on NHS which is great but I feel like we need some more digging.
We won’t qualify for funded NHS ivf until next year unless there’s an issue. To be honest I just want to know what’s happening with my pains/periods and if £400 sorts it then it’s worth every penny.

Thank you so much for replying, good luck with your ivf journey x

It must be frustrating, sounds like you've had the basic tests, others that I can think of are a laparoscopy and a hsg. Might be worth doing some research into them and see if they might be relevant

Lifeisstressful · 31/08/2020 10:22

Yes I think basics have been covered but no amh and I think I’d need a lap to diagnose endometriosis. The clinic nurse is telling me that the scans look fine, no ovaries stuck to the wall etc but I know that a lap is the only way to diagnose properly.
I’ll look up the hsg as I’ve never heard of that one!
