Hi me again 😅 already got a thread going about being new to ivf, sorry!

I've had my transvaginal scan to check my afc - I've got 13 on one ovary and 9 on the other. Is this normal? The nurse just said it is okay and shows I am fertile when I asked her what the numbers mean. Does anyone know if these numbers are in the normal range for my age? I'm 30 and previously diagnosed with pcos. Worrying shut about having a low number of eggs.
Haven't got an amh result but I do know that when checked last year my fsh was 5.4

Thanks

That sounds like a pretty good (normal) number to me! If you were having IVF stimulation drugs this month most of those follicles would grow and hopefully produce viable eggs.

The number of follicles seen to give a diagnosis of PCO is debated - I think the cut off used to be more than 12 per ovary, although with better imaging techniques it’s now considered to be higher than that. So it sounds like you don’t meet a diagnosis of polycystic ovaries based on this months scan.

My clinic considers more than 12 in total to be a good number.

Bottom line is that your number sounds great, FSH also in a nice (low) range. Xx

@bicyclesandbeyond that's brilliant, thank you for the reply! It's nice to know hopefully my pcos May have gone? Could be the metformin maybe. I was never diagnosed though bloods they were always okay it was due to ovaries appearing polycystic and irregular periods x

I was told mine was 34, but only by a letter that I had been sent out after all our investigations done.
I was told it was good/fine number
