Any hints for questions to ask before starting treatment?

Hi all

I have my final consultation today before we have to decide what treatment to go ahead with. I don't know if any of you are the same but I always feel so nervous and anxious about these appointments and it doesn't help that it's by phone rather than face to face. I have some questions written down but does anyone have any tips for the kind of questions it's important to ask at this stage? TIA

It depends on what kind of treatment you have been given options for?

@ivfdreaming at the moment only IVF with ICSI but I guess we'll find out more in our appointment. We had additional tests done - SA and AMH plus AFC scan so doctor is calling us today following those tests.

I’d ask which protocol you’ll be on and the treatment timeline. I found once I knew it was roughly x no of days downreg then x no days injections it was easier to mentally prepare.

Find out how often you’ll need scans and bloods so you can plan how to manage work and appointments. Ask if they have certain times for these, my clinic did them between 7-9am each morning which meant I didn’t have to miss work.

Check exactly what is covered by the treatment costs and if they foresee any extras. If they can tell you what drugs you’ll be on you can look up what they’ll cost too. Mine were loads more expensive than I expected but we were committed at that point (we would have paid it anyway but it was a shock)

Thank you! Would you mind if I ask how much the drugs were? Is it cheaper to buy them elsewhere do you know?

Mine were around 3k but I live abroad and it’s more expensive here. I did look at the UK as they were about half the cost but I couldn’t get them out here. Asda was definitely one place I looked at. It will all depend on how much dosage you need but the clinic should be able to give you an indication.
