Pcos - are my eggs just crap??

Hi everyone, need to vent tonight.
Been trying for number 2 for three years now, have pcos, been on clomid, released eggs but didn't conceive. Been on metformin for 4-5 months, regular periods and monthly ovulation pains but still no bfp.
I just don't understand what on earth is wrong with me? I'm starting to think I have bad eggs! Why isn't it working if I'm ovulating? Can anyone shed any light or been through a similar thing?

Has your partner had a recent semen analysis?

cosmo30 · 04/08/2020 22:17

About a year ago, Last time all the tests were done was last April

Dunno if this helps. Can you try letrozole instead?

Overmylimit · 11/08/2020 17:48

Hi Cosmo I am on the same journey although been trying for baby number 2 for 2 years. Did you conceive unassisted with your first? I did but they told me I have PCOS, then told me I don't have it, have unexplained infertility and I do ovulate the same as you. I'm on the waiting list for clomid but it's been stopped at the moment because of Covid, which is understandable of course.

How old is your first child? Mine is 4 and a half!

cosmo30 · 13/08/2020 19:54

@YouBoggleMyMind thanks for the link. They have never mentioned letrozole though my understanding is that's it's the same kind of thing as clomid?
They did say, if met form in doesn't work then they will try clomid and metfornin together but obviously since Covid haven't heard anything !

Hi @Overmylimit yes first was unassisted, not planned, completely a surprise.
That's strange! How did they diagnose it in the first place if they can then just change their minds?
Mine is nearly 6!
It's so frustrating isn't it, knowing you ovulate but then just not conceiving 😥
No male factor issues?

Overmylimit · 13/08/2020 21:16

@cosmo30 I think I may be borderline pcos whatever that means! It is frustrating isn't it when the age gap gets bigger and bigger. No male issue at all just me Confused

I wonder how long the wait will be for clomid? Sometimes it feels like it's been so long that I can't even be bothered to try on some months! Probably doesn't help my case

cosmo30 · 13/08/2020 21:37

@Overmylimit there is no harm in giving them a call and enquiring?
My bloods were actually all normal! But ovaries are polycystic and along with irregular periods I was diagnosed that way.
I've had an operation cancelled due to Covid, it was for ovarian drilling so was looking forward to having normal ovaries for a while too lol

I know I was thinking the other day the gap just keeps getting bigger ! Also really hard seeing people around me get pregnant

OP posts:
Overmylimit · 14/08/2020 10:20

@cosmo30 yes it is hard and also thinking about being grateful for my daughter, but still feeling sad as I know what I'm missing out on!

Was the ovarian drilling private? Would you you ever go for IVF? I don't think I could afford it so it's off the table. I did phone about clomid but they haven't resumed it yet!

cosmo30 · 15/08/2020 16:26

No it was nhs. Been told it won't happen this year. But when I spoke to the fertility nurse she said routine ops have started again so I have no idea what's going on!
I would love too tbh but same situation as you!

@cosmo joining as I'm the same as you with a nearly 6 year old. Just don't understand it. Haven't had tests or anything and with covid don't feel I can make a GP appointment. If I do, what would the steps be? Would they arrange test?

Overmylimit · 18/08/2020 09:46

@threesecrets you wouldn't be offered IVF but they could definitely help you with investigations, I've had an ultrasound scan and a HSG and now waiting for clomid. Obviously at the moment nothing is happening but once Covid hopefully dies down it's worth going to your GP definitely

cosmo30 · 18/08/2020 11:44

@threesecrets hi! What @Overmylimit said is correct, worth going to the gp and asking as different areas may be at different places regarding starting back up etc.
Do you have regular cycles?

@Overmylimit hi sorry I know it is an old message but I was just curious as I seem to be on the same boat as you. 18months i have been ttc my second baby. Went through all the tests and everything is normal for me and my partner. I ovulate every month but I have PCO morphology (it is like PCOS except I can ovulate I think). First baby was conceived with letrozole and it worked right away. For this one they told me I can't have this treatment or clomid and should do IVF (which I can't afford!) so I was wondering which clinic you went to get clomid even though you are ovulating! Did it work? Thank you!!!

I'm in the south east. I saw a private gynaecologist and tried clomid, Letrazole and another one I can't remember the name of. Appointments were around £125 and then the cost of the prescriptions (they weren't much - less than £30 I think). This was a couple of years ago. So just try a private gynaecologist near you.

PicoUK75 · 21/08/2021 08:30

@seven201 thank you. I did go to one and they als thought I was being unreasonable because I am ovulating every month! But I just don't get what is the difference between being stimulated with Letrozole and tried naturally and getting ivf with a stimulation with letrozole too?!!! I am happy to get scan to be checked up as I know there is a risk of being overstimulated! Were you ovulating regularly too when you were under treatment? Did it work at the end, did you conceive? Xx

seven201 · 21/08/2021 10:01

@PicoUK75 yes I was already ovulating. I already had a naturally conceived dd. It didn't work for me - I've had 5 ivf attempts since too but have recently discovered I have a big adhesion in my uterus acting like a natural coil, so will have surgery. Been trying for 3 1/2 years. Maybe try a different doctor? So frustrating.

PicoUK75 · 21/08/2021 21:58

@seven201 I really hope the surgery goes well and you will have your second baby really soon. I know so frustrating I will try another gynae! xx
