Fertility investigations Scotland

Hello,

This might be a silly question. I’m looking to book the initial GP appointment for myself and my husband to kickstart fertility investigations & just wondering if anyone else has done this in Scotland during Covid? I’m just not entirely sure if the GP are discussing these things just now or if it’s still emergency only.

I am 26 and husband is 27, we have been trying since April 2019. In May this year I had numerous positive pregnancy tests over the course of 4 weeks however also bled near enough the whole time, when I attended my EPU for review they basically suggested these were “false positives” and that I wasn’t pregnant. I’ve had plenty negative tests since then too! I don’t know if that will be on my medical record & if so what impact it will have.

Hope someone can please help, I naively never thought we would be in this position and not sure where to begin x

In Scotland they don’t generally refer you at your age for detailed investigations unless you say you’ve been trying two years. But you might be lucky and get a good doctor who is willing to try some simple tests first. I’m not sure what the position is with the pandemic though.

@BabyE8 I live in Scotland, and we were referred for fertility tests, then treatment after trying for a year. I was 28 at the time. I would definitely phone to enquire. The whole process can take a while to get started. So, prob good to start making steps forward now. Can’t say whether your doctor will definitely go ahead with blood tests, but no harm in asking.
Good luck!

I live in Scotland and was referred for tests after a year. Couldn’t go on ivf waiting list until 2 years TTC though
