Can embryo grading change after thawing?

Hi everyone

Exactly, what it says above! Can it? Can the grade go up or down?

Also, can a low grade blastocyst survive the thawing process? Has anyone ever had an embryo not survive freezing/thawing process?

One more - is a C quality blast really poor? My clinic says anything D and over is un suitable for transfer or freezing? I'm just wondering what other clinics say about C grades.

Thanks x

As I understand it after the embryo is defrosted it should continue to grow so I would assume the grading can change.

From what I have read grading can be quite subjective and a clinic wouldn’t freeze an embryo if they didn’t think it would survive the thaw and possibly go onto to create a baby.

@Westnorwood Thanks for the reply. I was under the impression the expansion number can change but not the grading. Its worrying as top grade may change to lower grade. But with IVF and kids in generwl does the worrying really ever stop!

Thanks for the reply :)
