Just been for a consultation at King's college hospital and my egg reserve is rock bottom, so at hideous cost the best chance we stand is IVF. Before we commit, timescales estimated 2-3 months, we're wondering if we should shop around as this is likely to cost approx £6K (owing to our problems we are not advised to do the basic). What kind of costs have others been quoted and where - and what timescales? Is anyone looking at traveling abroad for it? Thanks x

Hello.

We did lots of shopping around for our second round, looked at pro's and con's of lot's of clinics just in the UK (For me personally I would have rather paid a bit extra to stay in the UK)

We landed on ABC IVF - they have a few different clinics in the UK. For a round of IVF it's cost us 2.5K - We had to pay an extra 1k for 18 months of freezing (There is a yearly cost if you are lucky enough to have some kept in the freezer)

We are currently with the one in Manchester. I have to say they have been amazing, we initially had one round on NHS, I have nothing against NHS, but I can only compare my experience to that and it's dramatically different in so many ways. We had a consultation to stay with that same NHS clinic and it was going to cost us around the 8k mark.

I'm so glad we shopped around, I'm due to go in next week for Frozen Embryo Transfer, and up until now, everything has been better compared to last time, better care, better results, better advice, just everything has been amazing. Can't fault it at all. We had an initial consultation but after that we pretty much started straight away. This was of course pre covid (We had to freeze our eggs in March due to Covid which is why we couldn't have a fresh transfer)

I would suggest checking their website and just check that you meet their requirements, I thought I wasn't going to as I seem to have so many infertility problems, but they took me with open arms.

Happy to answer any other questions :) xxx

Hey! I am based in Spain, and I've been shopping around for clinics both here locally, but generally in Europe as well. Personally I am looking for clinics without waiting lists ( I don't want to loose any more time...I am feeling guilty for waiting this long already!) and with the best kind of care they can provide. So far, I've found many good clinics in Spain, Greece and Cyprus and have been trying to contact each one seperately to ask for info, and to check their responce times/how they reply, if they are informative and supportive, etc. I don't know many things about UK clinics, as it's kinda weird for us to visit now (even privately) due to brexit, so unfortunately can't help you much with that.
You can search here for the best clinics close to your area gcr.org/top/fertility?page=1&per_page=16&sort=score&age_category_id=1&order=desc

Hope this helps
