Anyone had their AMH drop quickly?

Has anyone had their AMH go down quickly? I first got it done when I was 31 and it was 24, I got it done again at 33 and it dropped to 17 and then got it done a year later at 34 and it’s now 9. I’m worried by next year it’ll be down to near 0 and I don’t understand why it’s dropping so significantly each year.

Anyone else had similar?

Mine went from 17 at the end of last year (age 33) to 11 last month (age 34), but between those I had surgery on both ovaries, which my doctor said would explain the drop, he said he wouldn't have expected such a quick drop otherwise. You haven't had any surgery or other medical issues in between your tests?

I know how a dropping AMH level can feel though, the panic in it, so I feel for you. Maybe an indication to start IVF sooner rather than later though if that is possible for you?

Unfortunately I had a failed poor response to ivf at both those AMH so I am even less hopefully now for round 3 with such a drop. Apart from a few bad chest infections I’ve had no medical issues. It’s a crazy drop in one year. I am terrified it’ll go completely by next year and before we even manage to get a few embryos. Thanks for your response.

I'm sorry about the failed IVFs, and I'm sorry I can't provide more insight to the AMH drop, someone else might be along soon who knows more than me! I'm thinking one of the tests might not have been accurate? I'm really hoping for you it will steady out where it with no further steep drops x

Thanks. I know in a way it doesn’t matter as ivf is the ‘solution” to low AMH but I’m freaked out it went down so dramatically.

Hi there, yes this has happened to me too! I'm 34 and I had I had my AMH checked in January 2018 it was 12 I was tested again a few weeks ago and it has dropped to 4.4 we are due to have our first round of IVF in August. I was told the algorithm says I'm likely to have 6 - 8 eggs retrieved.

This happened to me. AMH was 22, then approx a year later was 11. Then a year after that, is was 24?!
I am unconvinced as to how accurate these tests are, and obviously they do fluctuate.
The only difference, is that between the second and third samples, I started taking high dose vitamin d. I didn’t get great numbers of eggs in my ICSI rounds.

I should also say that I had multiple failed rounds, but was successful the round after that last AMH, and we actually also got a sibling from the same round, as an FET 2 years later. I feel very, very lucky.

Did the high dose vit d help? Who knows. (My husband also went to see a fertility urologist before the last round too), but from what I have read, it’s not harmful.

Good luck

This happened to me, mine was over 10 (36yo) which was normal (although not amazing, I can't remember the exact figure), and 7 or 8 months later dropped to 4.5. I was shocked. This was 3 months after a miscarriage so I don't know if that had an influence. I've since spoken to my consultant and he said AMH fluctuates and I could have had blood taken at a particular low time... My AFC was a bit better than AMH suggested. I am now on DHEA and waiting to start IVF!
