Hello All,

Anyone been seen and treated by Dr Taranissi? Success or negative experiences pls.
Just had a 4th mc and deciding whether to switch clinics and book a consultation with Taranissi?
I almost did a year ago but he seemed extortionate so didn't.
Xx

Hiya

Firstly, I'm so sorry to hear about your MC
Thanks

We're at ARGC but never met the man himself. We're about to start a FET cycle in next couple of days. Had one failed cycle previously at ARGC and then had an NHS cycle elsewhere that worked. We have a little girl.

Even tho it didn't work, I had a great experience at ARGC. It's a very personalised service. It was intense but may be less so now due to coronavirus restrictions. I liked the intensity. I felt that I was in safe hands and could hand over all my worry and stress to them.

I think if you've had previous MC then you will need to think about whether to do immunes work or not. That is one of their specialities. I never did but hadn't had previous losses so I'm hoping someone else will come onto the thread to advice you better. I know the evidence is mixed but many people swear by it.

Sorry not to be more help but wanted to respond

Xxx

@Janefx40 thank you for reply. I'm already being treated for immunes/Nk cells at the clinic I'm with - Dr Shehata. I've had extensive testing done with him after 3 miscarriages and this was my 1st pregnancy on his treatment which unfortunately failed. Although I'm happy with the clinic I think ivf/Icsi would be our next option so would consider Taranissi.
I have a ivf cycle on nhs, would you work alongside that or not? I know add Shehata would. Xx

Hi @HoldingOn2Hope I've heard of Dr Shehata. I'm so sorry you've had another loss. This is a tough journey.

I'm afraid I don't know that much about whether they would work alongside another clinic. They're pretty approachable so I would just call up and ask although possibly you would need a consultation to get a full answer. It might also depend on the NHS clinic too.

It may be that you stay with Dr Shehata alongside your NHS cycle and then switch over to ARGC if that doesn't work (but hopefully it will).

Good luck with it all. Sorry not to know more about the immune protocol and how it compares to Dr Shehata.

Xxx

Great. I think ARGC are amazing but be aware it is very intense - much more so than other IVF clinics. I've no idea how it compares to Dr S. They will throw absolutely everything at it and that means procedures, tests, extra medication that other clinics don't do or don't do as often. Again, it may be that you have already done some of this with Dr S anyway. They will expect you to be there a lot and to drop everything to get there.

They will spend your money fast because they are doing a lot more than other clinics. My NHS cycle for example, I did 2 or 3 sets of blood tests for a short protocol. ARGC I did about 14 and that all adds up.

I'm not trying to scare you because I go there myself but I think it's important to choose ARGC knowing what to expect. It's not a hand holding type place

Good luck!!!

@Janefx40 thank for for replying. I did do a lot of research last year and on all honesty the 'boot camp' feeling if this place put me off. I have a relative who's also had success with them and she told me all about it and I guess I thought I wasn't cut out for it. However I've done a lot of the tests they require with Dr S and have been told they won't be repeated unless absolutely necessary.
I'll probably have to research nearby b&b's or hotels once I start treatment as have been told it's daily visits etc. I suppose I'll only l know more once I have the initial consultation next week.
From what I've read Dr S was Taranissi's student and learnt his fetal medicine from him.

Well it sounds like you're going in with your eyes open. It's somewhere between a boot camp and a meat factory! I should say tho that the nurses and consultants are lovely. The people in between sometimes lack a bit of bedside manner.

Have the consultation and see how you feel.

@Janefx40 I'll let you know how I get on it's not til the end of next week x

@Janefx40 hello, just to see how you got on at Argc? I had a couple of months break and tried my current clinics protocol for another couple of months but will switch to Argc next month. Xx

Hi @HoldingOn2Hope sorry for the delayed response - I don't have notifications on for Mumsnet so sometimes I miss things! Always feel free to email me if I don't respond.

So when are you starting at ARGC?

We had a FET back in June. I got pregnant but sadly miscarried at 9 weeks. We are going back for a fresh cycle in January but I am 43.5 so we are aware it is madness!!!

How are things?
