Hi! I’m 38 with pcod (hence relatively high AMH) and debating getting my eggs frozen. Please can you let me know which clinic/doctor would be best? And also any other advice you have on proceeding or not? There is so much info and I’m really confused! I don’t have a partner at the moment and really do want kids one day. Thanks! X

Hi Indigo102. Yes I definitely think you should freeze your eggs. I'm afraid success is not guaranteed at your age (I'm 38 as well, turning 39 next month). However you miss 100% of the shots you don't take (sorry can't help a hockey quote). If you have the money go for it. It may be your only chance to have a biological child. HFEA website has success rates for all clinics. Not sure where you're based but one of the most successful London clinics is CRGH. I see on their site that one egg collection cycle starts at £3k but doesn't include doctor consultations and meds which can add up (£1500 - £2k I reckon). They should be clearer about full costs but oh well. They're still very successful which is what matters. Here's a link: crgh.co.uk/price-list/

Btw I'm at Kings in London. Good clinic, pretty good success rates, moderately priced. Can't speak for egg freezing as DH and I are trying ICSI but I'm sure they're a good option for egg freezing too.

Bottom line though is freeze your eggs at 38, not 39/40/41 etc as egg quality goes down dramatically in the next couple years.

All the best! x

Questions to ask yourself: what do you want to do with your eggs once frozen? Is there an age limit at which you would 'wait' for a partner to come along? Would you reach a point where you'd use a sperm donor?

Frozen embryos tend to be much more robust than frozen eggs. Success wouldn't be guaranteed.

So yes, freeze your eggs. But I'd also start thinking about what you would want to do with them.

Thank you so much both!

I looked at at CRGH and looking at a doc there called dr khanjani.

The other option I am looking at is lister hospital with a doctor called raef faris.
Not sure which of the two is better.

I think if I’m going to do it now is the age to do it and no point later. I think my concern is will it even work after all the stress and money spent-success rates don’t seem great-but guess one has to just try...

Not sure if you're still looking @Indigo102 I'm at Crgh. Initially nhs funded, now private under Dr Khanjani who I would highly recommend.
