Hi, DH sperm needs to be quarantined for min 90 days if have NAAT test or 60 days without. Thoughts on fresh or frozen transfer? Dr says both are same in terms of success? Any thoughts please?

Funny cause I was just about to post a thread asking people's views on fresh Vs frozen for our next ICSI (September if June FET doesn't take).

Never heard of NAAT. I guess your DH has an infection of some sort?

I look forward to hearing what people come back with on this topic and also the usual fresh Vs frozen dilemma!

There are lots of factors which affect success rates between fresh and frozen.

1 - clinic - some clinics have better success rates with one compared to the other

2 - was there any OHSS or any question on lining thickness? Both of these can affect implantation and often the amount of drugs you are on as part of egg collection makes the uterus less hospitable so it's better to wait a month or so and have a FET

3 - age - FETs can be more successful for older women. (Again could be to do with allowing body to recover from all the drugs)

4 - embryo itself - some studies have shown that a blastocyst that didn't make blast until day 6 is better off being a FET as the body could be out of sync

I haven't dont any fresh transfers yet they've all been FET so far - I'm hoping to do one on this next cycle 🤞

We've been advised to do FET - due to my high AMH

ChatWithMe · 29/05/2020 15:31

High AMH? I wonder why that means you should have a FET? Maybe cause it means the eggs are likely better quality and will survive the thaw so it gives your body a rest....

Most recent consultant said fresh is better but the reception on the phone consultation was poor so I couldn't be bothered to ask what the reason was. However I can only do FET atm as have one embryo left from last cycle. It's going in around June 17th I reckon :-D that is if it survives the thaw (last one didn't) ...

@ChatWithMe

High AMH means higher risk of OHSS and that can be really toxic to a fresh transfer so better to do an FET

Ah ok. Thanks ivfgottostaypositive. That makes sense x
