Investigations - laparoscopy

Hey,

Following my first follicle checking scan after starting letrozole, it was noticed on the scan that my fallopian tubes looked to have fluid in both of them which suggests they are blocked (even though hycosy showed as being clear), so I was referred for a laparoscopy mid feb, to investigate . I was just wondering if anyone else was in the same boat? I know theres so much worse going on in the world right now, but I just feel like the operation wont go ahead for a long time, considering there will also be a backlog. Also, dont know whether to continue trying if they are both blocked along with being confused how my hycosys came back as clear. All very confusing, would just be nice to have some idea of when the operation could go ahead. I also have PCOS, so seems theres a lot going on lol. Xx

I haven't experienced this, but it could be that they aren't blocked, but filled with fluid that is toxic to embryos - a hydrosalpinx. That's why the hycosy would appear fine (though I would expect a hydrosalpinx might be visible in that test too). So it might not be a hydrosalpinx... but it's just a thought.

Thanks for your response. Oh really, I thought a hydrosalpinx meant it was blocked? That was mentioned that it looks like that.

It was all very vague, so confusing!

@mrsf1989 although we're in slightly different situations I just thought I would comment to say I'm also awaiting a laparoscopy as I have pcos, I was advised the wait list is looking like 12 months + 😔

Oh wow really. We are also looking at options to go private, but its really hard trying to figure out rough costs because you get automated responses from all private hospitals to say they are helping the NHS. I dont mind being patient, when I can make some form of a plan. Eek. Must remember there are people going through much worse xxx

@MrsF1989 if it helps the quotes I was provided with ranged from £2700 - £4000
But this will depend what the laparoscopy is for, if anything else is required etc Smile
Agreed, completely understand why they've put these things on hold, more pressing things at play currently but hopefully operations will resume shortly! Xx

That's really helpful, thank you 😊.

Yes, hopefully they resume soon and the wait isn't over 12 months 🙏 xx
