Coronavirus and fertility clinics.

Has anyone’s fertility clinic told them they will close due to Coronavirus? I’m due to start treatment and now confused as what to do or whether I’ll be able to start. Thanks.

When I rang mine they said frozen transfer would be first as less trips to hospitsl as they already have there eggs xxx

Cleozeta · 12/05/2020 17:58

When I called mine they said they would prioritise those on an age timeline first.

Lemongrass1 · 12/05/2020 18:52

Our clinic said they are prioritizing people who’s cycles were cancelled during treatment. CARE and CRGH have said the same, CARE said that frozen cycles will go next as they require very few appointments.

@AnnaLCox that seems very unfair if they originally said you would be prioritized. I hope you get a more promising response from them...

AnnaLCox · 12/05/2020 20:37

@Matilda128 are you also waiting for IUI or IVF? I think you need to insist with your clinic that you are prioritised since your treatment was imminent and cancelled. It must be upsetting to hear that other patients have been called up when you've heard nothing - I really hope you hear some good news from them soon.

thefishthatcouldwish · 12/05/2020 21:03

My clinic have triaged and are prioritising patients based on medical needs ie low reserve and oncology first. They said expect a delay but won't say when

HJF84 · 12/05/2020 21:09

@AnnaLCox @Matilda128 When I spoke to Create about it, they said they would be prioritising existing patients above new patients. As I was ready to go, and I guess it's the same with @ivfgottobepositive, they're looking to start us soon. But I'm the one emailing them asking for things to happen, they haven't been active in contacting me. I guess a lot of clinics are overwhelmed at the moment,

Matilda128 · 12/05/2020 21:26

I'm doing 3rd round of IVF @AnnaLCox My clinic uses the pill and I have missed the cut off date for this cycle. They have confirmed that I will have to wait until at least the end of June. I really hope that I will be able to start then. I really hate Norethisterone- it really makes me feel depressed and gives me horrible PMS. Also the last three times I have been in the most agonising period pain lasting three days. Has anyone else have this when taking this pill?
I would love to change clinics but they already have all my money and I think with other clinics already being so busy it is impossible to do so now. Xx

ivfgottostaypositive · 12/05/2020 21:27

@HJF84

On my call on Sunday the nurse basically said I'm on the priority list and they'd call me to confirm I can start on my projected dates this month once HFEA has signed them off - I've seen they've updated their website with confirmed dates for clinic opening for treatment scans - only St Paul's, Manchester and Birmingham have dates though so far (I'm guessing because these are the biggest ones)

Think I'll call them tomorrow as the website talks about having to fill in some Covid specific consent forms and a consenting appointment so want to make sure I get that done early

HJF84 · 12/05/2020 21:48

@ivfgottostaypositive I have my call booked for Friday, so keeping my fingers crossed I can start at the end of this month 🤞🏼

I have zero idea how my message came up twice

Wesstywoo · 13/05/2020 07:58

@HJF84 @ivfgottostaypositive I am with Create too and had the priority email as well but that may be because I contacted them immediately after the initial announcement. Anyway, new protocol means I can start this cycle. I have to say I find them extremely thorough - I wish I had gone with them in the first place

Wesstywoo · 13/05/2020 07:59

*cant start this cycle

mabel92 · 13/05/2020 08:10

Hi @AnnaLCox I’m going for IUI. Since I was due to have the IUI in April I’ve been put on the prioritise list with all those who also had treatments cancelled. Seems unfair that you have to wait longer. Hopefully you get clarity soon.

Does anyone know if i have to wait for a period before i have another prostap to restart treatment? Had prostap in March and treatment was canx just before stims....period is MIA🧐

ChaiTea1 · 13/05/2020 09:34

Oh I’m in such a pickle Blush

I’m with ABC (Harley Street) and I’ve just started my period (today is classed as Day 1) I was told I might be able to start my next FET if they get approval and have all the relevant information updated on their website, which has all happened. I’ve called and let them know but they need to get back to me to confirm if I can start or not.

My cycles are so irregular, so if I can’t start then I don’t know how long it would be!

Lemongrass1 · 13/05/2020 09:59

@Wesstywoo that’s a shame you miss out on this cycle but hopefully you’ll be on treatment by your next one

@ChaiTea1 Hope your clinic get back to you soon

@YogaPants4 Not sure about Prostap but with buserelin (which I think is used for same purpose), I had to have a period. They did say that they would induce one with norethisterone if period was v late though (but I don’t know if same applies with prostap) so perhaps you could check with your clinic?

I’ve emailed my clinic today and they say they hope to restart treatment earliest end of May. They are still putting processes in place to adhere to social distancing. So I’m really hoping we can start with next AF 🤞🤞🤞🤞

So it looks like at least some of the NHS clinics are starting treatment and not far behind the private clinics. Hopefully more will reopen soon so everyone can resume treatment ASAP

Hoping1 · 13/05/2020 11:45

There is more on the list already today ladies xxx

Hoping1 · 13/05/2020 11:49

bunhead34 · 13/05/2020 12:07

Anyone heard from kings yet? I am obsessively checking my phone 😭

MissKittie · 13/05/2020 12:29

@bunhead34 Looks like Kings Fertility is on the list of approved clinics. Would give them a call. I’m not with them and my clinic hasn’t been approved yet however I did call them today and spoke with the nurse. Looks like most places have a priority list which I’m hoping I’m on.

All the best.

Hoping1 · 13/05/2020 12:34

My hospital not on not even sure they have applied for it last time I spoken to them they didn't have an department as been taken over by covid ringing them Monday if af arrives to tell them hopefully they tell me something as day I rang they were having a meeting xxx

Lemongrass1 · 13/05/2020 12:51

@Hoping1- our clinic said the same when I called them early last week. That doctors were redeployed and they were having meetings. No mention of applying to reopen. But when I emailed today they were talking about opening earliest end of May and they already have approval to resume treatment. So things are changing fast, definitely worth getting an update when you call on Mon. X

Hoping1 · 13/05/2020 13:03

@Lemongrass1 thanks that gives me a bit of hope xxx

Matilda128 · 13/05/2020 13:16

I got a call from my clinic this morning from a really lovely nurse. She confirmed the clinic is reopening and that I am on the priority list. But she couldn't confirm that when I would call with day 1 of my cycle late May that I would be treated. I tried to really kindly explain that I'm absolutely going mad with the uncertainty and I'm feeling absolutely hopeless- she understood how I felt. But then she said they were not doing any egg collections until July and I would probably have to miss another cycle. Not sure if this is true for all Care clinics so I asked on Twitter. So now I'm looking at early August- more uncertainty and disappointment. Sad
