Has anyone’s fertility clinic told them they will close due to Coronavirus? I’m due to start treatment and now confused as what to do or whether I’ll be able to start. Thanks.

@twinkledag Ahh yes! I need to PM you. Will do today if that’s ok?

Xx40yearsyoungxx · 24/03/2020 15:00

@Matilda128 - I’m so sorry to hear about your mum and my heart goes out to you and your family . It’s so lovely that you are considering helping others when I imagine you feel so lost inside like many of us . Tell your dad he’s raised an amazing daughter !

Liliclaire · 24/03/2020 15:13

@Matilda128 thank you so much! I think I’m going to go without any pain relief if I can until we know what’s happening with clinics. Like you say don’t want it to come in the way of starting treatment again. Best wishes x

Cacaca · 24/03/2020 15:50

Not that this makes this any better for any of you but I know that the centre local to me has reassigned their clinical staff to support nhs staff during these times.

twinkledag · 24/03/2020 17:31

Thanks @VillageFete

Matilda128 · 24/03/2020 23:06

Thank @Xx40yearsyoungxx for your kind wordsxxx

I think someone on here asked a few days ago but not sure if there has been any reply ....
Does anyone know of any good supplements ( apart from the usual folic acid / vit D / pregnacare range ) that aid fertility so when this is all over our bodies are fighting fit to try/start again ? Trying to stay positive and get mentally / physically stronger again
X x x

CarbsAndCheese · 25/03/2020 11:51

@Xx40yearsyoungxx have you read ‘it starts with the egg’? I would recommend giving it a read and then deciding which bits of it to adopt/which not to. For example I decided to take ubiquinol and some other supplements, but not to totally cut out sugar.

Wesstywoo · 25/03/2020 11:54

@Xx40yearsyoungxx same as Carbs I'm taking ubiquinol and have done for months - not sure if it makes a difference as my latest embryo didn't reach blast but it can't hurt so I've upped my dose. I took DHEA for several months on the advice of my previous clinic but it didn't make a difference and my new clinic is against it so I have stopped. So for now just preconception vitamin and ubiquinol

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 25/03/2020 12:28

@xx40years

I take the following

Proceive Max for women as it has the most "stuff" in it. Expensive but usually buy on double points days at Boots and had 25% off at Holland and Barratt

500mg royal jelly tablets twice a day

200mg ubquinol but I might stop that as I think that's what delayed my ovulation last month and meant I had to abandon my IVF cycle

I have to say though that no matter what I've taken etc it's made no difference to egg quality or quantity

The ONLY thing that has has been changing from short protocol IVF to natural modified - reducing stims to every other day - first time I've had aa grade blastocysts by doing this and fertilisation rate with ICSI went from 30% to 100%

Xx40yearsyoungxx · 25/03/2020 13:21

Thanks @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted @Wesstywoo and @CarbsAndCheese

Out of interest how do clinics decide whether you go on long or short protocol or modified etc ... why did they not put you on long protocol @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted

Just interested as my clinic seemed to just day from outset I would be long protocol even before some of the scans etc ?

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 25/03/2020 13:29

@Xx40yearsyoungxx
I'm with Create so they only do short protocol with no reg.

I specifically chose it after multiple miscarriages and a ruptured ectopic already by that point I didn't feel like I could put my body through much more

I did two rounds of short protocol with Create and quality massively shocked me - 14 eggs (which better than most of friends on long protocol) but even with ICSI fertilisation rate was 30% and got 2 average quality blastocysts from each round. First transfer was BFN the second was my second ruptured ectopic. Then I PGS tested the next two - one complex chromosome issues which wasn't allowed to transfer the other was a low level mosaic which did transfer but BFN

When deciding to go again my doctor sat me down and said look we just don't think some women are capable of getting more than two blastocysts per round so why push your body to Behave like a Ferrari when you're more like a Ford Focus (😩🤦‍♀️)

So natural modified took tamoxifen for day 3 and Bemfola every other day - egg collection day 12 - 2 eggs BOTH fertilised both top quality frozen
Next round 7 eggs and 2 top quality blastocysts frozen

My clinic is just very good about discussing all the options and not just forcing you down one long protocol route

Xx40yearsyoungxx · 25/03/2020 14:05

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted - sounds like you have been through a lot. Thanks for sharing . It’s made me think as I didn’t question my clinic at all / ask about the different ways and assumed long protocol was the best as that was what I was ‘automatically’ put on - but maybe not .

Thanks again

mabel92 · 25/03/2020 14:07

Do you all think that we will have to wait for the vaccine before we can continue with treatment? ☹️

Xx40yearsyoungxx · 25/03/2020 14:56

No @mabel92 I don’t think so .....

Are create ( or is it care ) still doing their Facebook live talks ( I’m not on Facebook )..... have they answered this question on that ?

Katiebooboo · 25/03/2020 18:31

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted

Thanks for sharing all that info. What dose of stimms very type were you on the short one?

I agree that no point pushing your body for the same result.

I’ve done three cycles so far.
1st long on 225 Menopur with 5 eggs and 4 fertilised. result: 1 x 5 days blasto that resulted in chemical and 1 x 6 day blasto frozen not used yet. Both very 4bb so average quality

2nd long protocol on 300/375 Menopur alternating with 5 eggs out but only two fertilised with 1 x 5 day blasto and fresh transfer and BFN. It was 3BC

3rd short protocol with 300menopur - 5 eggs out all 5 fertilised one day 5 (3bc). Lots of pain after the egg collections, hormones all over the place, hot flushes at night with collapsed endometrium. Had to freeze and transfer 3 months later with BFP miscarries at 9 weeks.

I’m coming to a conclusion that I’m a 5 egg girl no mater what you try with me really. Short or long high doses low doses.
I will try one more cycle with 375 dose on long protocol and then will probably change to short of unsuccessful with less drugs etc. On the bar line scan they can see 10-15 follicules but not ever 5 respond to the meds

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 25/03/2020 18:59

@Katiebooboo

Short protocol last year was 225ml of bemfola daily from cycle day 2 - my AMH is 12 and I'm 36
Did two of these cycles and for 14 eggs each time

Natural modified I was on daily tamoxifen (similar effect to clomid) from cycle day 3 and then 150ml bemfola every OTHER day. First time I got 2 eggs but both fertilised and both top quality on day 5

Second cycle they changed to daily 75ml Bemfola and 75ml luveris - for 7 eggs and 2 top quality blasts on day 5.

Third cycle plan is to do the same if we ever get to go again. I have to say I did both cycles back to back with no break though and it's messed my normally regular cycles up - I'm on cycle day 34 and no sign of period 😢

Xx40yearsyoungxx · 26/03/2020 16:18

How is everyone ?

Papoy · 26/03/2020 17:37

Hmmm.... I am still thinking whether I should stop TTC or not?

In the meantime completed a self referal doc and signed up to the clinic following the online open evening.. gonna have a skype consultancy nect week.

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 26/03/2020 17:59

@Papoy
There is no right time to get pregnant so I would still continue on x

twinkledag · 26/03/2020 21:44

@Papoy I'm still going to try naturally - bit pointless but never know!

Rumtopf · 27/03/2020 19:31

I'm feeling really pissed off and angry. Tomorrow I find out if our 3 fertilised eggs have made it to blast stage and would hopefully have been having ET. I'm obviously not because of this bloody virus and it's so unfair. I want to stamp my feet and wail.

Xx40yearsyoungxx · 27/03/2020 20:50

It is so frustrating
I’m so sorry @Rumtopf ....: did the clinic give you any choice at all or blanket no to transfer?

UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 27/03/2020 21:08

@Rumtopf

I’m at exactly the same stage as you. I’m not sure what they are going to tell us tomorrow when they call. They said I might have to go in on Saturday or Monday depending on what the embryos were doing.
It’s such a tough time. Try to get some sleep and at least tomorrow is nearly here. Waiting is painful. Xxxxxx

twinkledag · 27/03/2020 21:39

It's really unfair rum top for!
