Sperm analysis- zero sperm

Hi everyone. My husband and I have been trying for a while with no success. He has just had his first sperm analysis with zero sperm. Not even low, completely nothing. My bloods came back fine. The GP has requested a repeat analysis and a referral to discuss further investigation but just wondering if anyone has had this situation also? And if we are wasting our time with thinking there is any hope at all for us?

He can have surgical sperm removal though right? I thought that's the solution to zero sperm in the semen. Good luck! x

My partner has azoospermia- no sperm in his semen. He had a surgical sperm retrieval procedure on his testicles, called MicroTese, and they successfully extracted 4 ampules if sperm. So it's not the end...! Best of luck x

@Proudmummy88 we were in the same situation last year, my husband had MicroTese carried out back in September and sperm was found and extracted. I know it can seem like the end when you hear no sperm but there is hope! Wishing you all the best x

We found out the same thing 14 months ago. I know my husband found it soul crushingly difficult to deal with. They tried him on clomid, which didn't do anything, any he's having a microTESE in 5 weeks! So hopefully we'll be able to do ICSI (which I never thought would be something I 'hoped' to be able to do...)

We were in the same situation. It completely shocked us! We then found out he has cystic fibrosis (mildly) which they think is the reason behind it. He had SSR and they retrieved sperm. Unfortunately it was low quality and none of our eggs fertilised through ICSI (I believe this is quite rare), but the clinic did no other tests. We now think something else has caused the poor quality, so we’re going to see Dr Ramsay in London. He’s a male infertility expert and definitely worth looking into! Good luck. X

@Proudmummy88 my DH had surgical sperm retrieval after the same result. There was sperm, which we then used for ICSI, and we have our baby.
Its not easy, but you still have a chance.

The exact same happened with myself and boyfriend (October 2019) he also has been told it's azoospermia so there is a blockage of some kind - they are still investigating to why

We had our first gynaecology appointnent on Friday 24th Jan and have been reffered for ICSI. (4-6 month wait)

Be kind to him its a very hard thing to be told, myself and boyfriend shared alot of tears!

From what I understand there is obstructive and non obstructive azoospermia. Has your dh had a blood test to check his hormone levels? I know it's a huge shock but it's not the end of the road and sperm can often be retrieved

We had the same diagnosis in 2018 and now have 5 frozen samples! Started treatment with dr Ramsey who has already been mentioned here, and for my husband it was a hormone problem. Ramsey passed us to dr Channa (nhs) for different hormone treatment and now we are going through the journey of icsi. Good luck xx
