Clomid for recurrent miscarriages?

Hi everyone

Just wondering if anyone has tried clomid for better egg quality etc in recurrent miscarriages cases?

I'm just weighing up options and making a list of things I want to discuss before our appointment in February.

Thanks in advance x

Sorry to hear of your miscarriages @elc19. I have experienced 2 miscarriages and infertility but due to my age have had recurrent mc tests. I asked about chlomid or letrazole at my fertility appointment last week and was told categorically no as I ovulate regularly. We're being referred for ivf as the next step.

I am seeing our rmc at the end of February, hoping for a second opinion as not sure ivf is the next logical step just yet.

I've been taking ubiquinol in the hope of improving my eggs - no idea if they're the problem, currently have no answers as to why the pregnancies ended.

So sorry to hear of your losses too @VenusStarr.

Thank you for the information, I ovulate regularly too so I doubt I will be offered clomid in that case.

I have no trouble falling pregnant, it's getting them past 8 weeks that's the issue.

I hope we both find the answers we need to have a successful pregnancy 💕

Can’t help with clomid but my recurrent miscarriage clinic puts everyone on fragmin or clexane from bfp which are blood thinning injections and can help prevent miscarriage caused by placenta issues which can happen for a lot of women.

Thank you @elc19 I think it's still worth asking your consultant though, as you never know.

I hope you get some answers too and we both have positive news soon ❤️

Thank you @AnneLovesGilbert

Our 8th pregnancy was treated with clexane injections, aspirin, progesterone and vitamin D and still ended before 8/9 weeks.

Don't know where to go from here x

Oh god you’ve been through a lot, I’m so sorry. Have they suggested trying steroids?

elc19 · 27/01/2020 21:10

Sorry @AnneLovesGilbert I forgot to mention I was on 25mg Prednisolone a day too! X

I don't know how Clomid could help with egg quality to be honest. I got pregnant on my first round of Clomid which was I given to 'strengthen ovulation' as my consultant put it. And it worked but I had a mmc at 10 weeks which tests showed was due to T21. The way Clomid works I don't see how it could make your body differentiate between chromosomally normal and abnormal eggs. Really hope you get to the bottom of your fertility issues x

Just had to post about the steroids. I
Was on the first medical trials for that with natural killer cells. Had biopsy taken and number of cells counted. Then took the steroids. Then another biopsy. First month number of cells the same. Took for a second month and then saw the reduction. Lost 5 previous pregnancies. 4th month on the steroid treatment resulted in my daughter. Worth discussing this with consultant? Pm me if you need more info. Hang in there! X

Thank you both @SilkCottonTree and @Agirlcalled

I will definitely try anything that specialist suggests, maybe the steroids and clexane is the answer for me and maybe my last pregnancy was just genetically not right and it was just nature's way of taking control. A biopsy is being done on the baby and hopefully will have some answers within the next couple of months xz

Has everything come back fine on your DH side? Did he have a Sperm DNA fragmentation test alongside his Semen Analysis?

elc19 · 29/01/2020 12:31

@Crumpets124 no tests done on DH as of yet as initially they didn't feel the need to because I seem to fall pregnant quite quickly but I expect our fertility specialist will carry out these tests xx

Yes I would definitely be getting DH tested before trying anything more yourself. I’m surprised this wasn’t done already given your history as high DNA fragmentation is associated with high risk of miscarriage.
