We've spent in the region of £30k.

Never added it up too scared 6 rounds of ivf plus immunes and any extra u can imagine u name it I tried it. Got to be plus £50k, would pay it all again in a heartbeat for my son. Money means nothing when you can't have the one thing you want x

LASH38 · 02/01/2020 15:28

I should add - we were successful eventually, though I’m very aware that it could have gone either way.

twinkledag · 02/01/2020 17:38

@lash - we were successful on our NHS round! All our money has been spent on TTC his sibling.

ivfbabymomma1 · 02/01/2020 17:45

About £15k I think!

Jacksonb1972 · 02/01/2020 20:12

In 10 years we have spent £30k-40 still going through Donor egg in Spain this will be our 6 go with new donor !! All our money some we have borrowed and still owe after this treatment We are doing no more Such a shame when you want a baby so badly

Quail15 · 09/01/2020 19:51

30k on one private round (plus two on the NHS).

Now trying to see if we can afford another round to have a second child. I'm not sure we will be able to which will break my heart.

Basilicaofthemind · 09/01/2020 19:58

About £30k also. 1 child to show for it. The costs you’re shown as a prospective patient are misleading in the extreme.

Scottishgirl85 · 10/01/2020 20:01

Please go abroad for private cycles. The UK cost of IVF is nothing short of criminal, preying on people at the most vulnerable and distressing time of their life.

Twickerhun · 10/01/2020 20:06

We paid £6k all in for one round overseas which resulted in our first child and then had one FET overseas which was £1k all in and we got our second child.
We weren’t entitled to nhs care
U.K. costs are eye watering. I send so much love to those of you who are struggling right now; it’s such an all consuming process and for some go you so unbelievably expensive and unfair

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/01/2020 22:22

Agree. Cheaper abroad and imo better technology and reunited in some to Freeze and then fets

We spend £12k in uk

£15k abroad including fresh cycle - 2 fet - around 8 flights for 2 adults - hotel -scans and a cervical dilation , freezing sperm
And embryos

HavelockVetinari · 10/01/2020 22:28

We had 1 free NHS round, then spent £9k to get DS (1×ICSI and 1×FET). Have spent £24k so far for DC2, and will find out in a few weeks if the latest round has been a success. If not, we've given ourselves 3 more rounds and then we'll call it quits.

twinkledag · 10/01/2020 23:30

@scottish - been abroad twice and no luck. Yes it's cheaper but it's also so disruptive in day to day life. 😞

Good luck @HavelockVetinari 💐

£50k 25 years ago! Makes my eyes water. It would have paid for our first house.

No treatment abroad back then, barely any internet to research less expensive options.

Luckily our drugs were funded by our lovely GP for the first 4 cycles. Otherwise it would have been more. Drugs weren't synthetic back then and were a bit hit an miss.

Werkwerkwerkwerk · 11/01/2020 00:13

I can't face counting to be honest, we live overseas so private is the only option. It is currently costing me my sanity and it nearly cost me my life after a particularly dark Friday.
However I would give everything I have to be a mum, so I'll keep throwing money at the problem.

Cattenberg · 11/01/2020 00:22

At least £12k, but like PPs, I don’t want to depress myself by working out the exact figure. I went for a part-refundable three-cycle package, and as I was successful on my second attempt/first full cycle, I paid more than I could have done. But the package did give me some peace of mind during a very stressful time, so I can’t really regret it.

I had to pay for donor sperm and I also needed high doses of drugs, so that increased my costs by a few thousand.

Betsyboo87 · 11/01/2020 09:15

Around £8-9k on a freeze all cycle and subsequent FET. Around £3k was for drugs as I needed high doses. Hugely fortunate to have worked first time. Also not in the UK so private was the only option. We actually looked at going to the UK for our treatment as we thought it would be easier with both the language and being more familiar (we’re both British). However for us it was more important to cause as little disruption to our normal lives as possible so we opted to have treatment here. Different options work for different people.

HavelockVetinari · 11/01/2020 11:42

Thanks @twinkledag Flowers

twinkledag · 15/01/2020 10:03

As a follow up question, how did you pay for your IVF?

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 15/01/2020 10:25

1st savings.
2nd mum and Dad bless them
3rd loan and credit cards
4th fet saved
5th fet credit card

Was awful paying back a loan when it failed but only way we could afford ivf then and age was a factor

Pleaseletitbeme · 15/01/2020 11:11

Sold my house

Chasingrainbows80 · 19/01/2020 17:39

Oh bless you all 😢 this thread is terrifying! Been looking at clinics abroad (Spain / Prague)?? For ED. I know someone from my area who has used her 3 NHS cycles and spent £20k not ever having the blessed 2 lines 🥺 really is sickening how much the UK preys on the people who are desperate to have their own family through infertility treatment costs.

vixb1 · 19/01/2020 17:58

I think we spent about £25k all in. We need donor sperm. That was 3 lots of unsuccessful IUI, 1 cycle of completely unsuccessful IVF. A cycle of IVF which resulted in my 3 year old and a cycle that resulted in my 3 month old.
Terrifying how much we've spent but I'd do it all again in a heartbeat twice over.

Viletta · 28/01/2020 00:18

£6500 or so this year on 1 fresh and 2 FET in Czech. £1500 before on a fresh cycle in the UK when I tried to become an egg donor but ended up not having enough eggs to share. Plus around £4000 on tests. Funded by family helping out and savings. Next plan (if the second FET will not work, I’m testing in 2 days) is pull out some money when remortgaging the house.

Morpho123 · 28/01/2020 13:07

@ZeroOneOneTwoThree hi, can I please ask what the male factor was?
im wondering weather we should see a urologist regarding 0% morphology as we believe this is why we are not conceiving

thank you xx
