Hey ladies
I have a 4.5 year old who we had naturally after a year of trying. We had the HyCoSy and got pregnant that cycle.
Now been trying again for a year to conceive with no luck. We had all our tests done privately this time and both hubby and I area all clear. I have plenty of follicles and HyCoSy also came back normal. I am 36 in a month and hubby is 42.
I don't know if we should keep trying naturally for a few more months, try IUI although I'm not seeing many success stories with that, or just go straight to IVF. Any advice?! x

Hi @Kayla35 just bumping this for you, so hopefully some helpful Mumsnetters will be along soon to advise.

We'll also move it over to the infertility board. Flowers

With IUI you have to factor in at least 10 goes at it to get the same success rate as IVF
If you can afford it I would move into IVF x

If you've been trying for over 1 year and you're over 35 I think it's recommended you do IVF. I have had mixed success with IVF (ICSI to be specific) but my success was at your age (hubby was your partner's age at start also). Now going back for round two at 38 and it's been a down hill ride the past 1 year +. You may qualify for nhs IVF but as they cap the age you better check your local CCG's IVF policy asap. You can often find online. For example 'Southwark CCG IVF policy' Good luck x

P.S. we're now doing 3 cycle IUIs cause my hubby wanted to but as the success rates are even worse it doesn't seem to be helping....

Just realised you wouldn't qualify for NHS funding if you already have a child. Sorry, feeling a bit out of it today! x

Hi,

I also had secondary infertility. I got pregnant with my first within the first month of trying.
But my second took 18 months of trying. I had all the tests done after a year of trying, all of which were clear.

I contemplated IUI and IVF as i was so desperate for another child and i had convinced myself something was wrong with me.

But the fact of the matter is 2 years of TTC is completely normal.

The only thing i did differently was have reflexology the month i conceived.

Give it 2 years and save yourself thousands.

Good luck!
