Frozen transfer question

Hi, I’m due to start a frozen transfer soon and I’ve started progynova tablets yesterday. I also took a Cyclogest pessarie and then the hospital rang me and said I shouldn’t have took the pessarie (even though I was advise to when I picked up the medication) anyway they went to ask the consultant who said we wouldn’t know how taking one tablet would impact the treatment but to be on the safe side, stop the treatment and wait for next cycle. But next cycle means January because of the cut off period and shut down for xmas. Sounds silly but I have waited a year from the last time we done ivf (fresh cycle worked but ended in miscarriage) and I really don’t want to wait any longer. The hospital said it’s my choice. The logic of me thinks surely taking one pessarie 2 weeks before I was supposed to start them won’t impact it that much but I’m not a doctor and the doctor is basically saying they don’t know what impact it will have.

I know I should listen to the doctor but I’m gutted that it’s happened before we’ve even started! What would you do and has anyone else been in a similar situation?

Also we haven’t had it confirmed how it will financial impact us if we stop an restart the treatment although I will argue that we shouldn’t have to pay again considering we were told the wrong information in the first place.

Hi
I know how stressful it is to have a cycle cancelled as have experienced that. However if it were me, I would delay as i would worry that if it didn’t work I’d be wondering if that was the reason why. If you were told the wrong information then I’d definitely write to the clinic and explain you do not expect to be charged to restart the cycle. Whatever you decide fingers crossed for you 💐

Thanks grey goose. It definitely would be the right an sensible thing to wait. But we are leaning towards carrying on and we thought, if it doesn’t work, we will try again as luckily we have 4 embryos in the freezer. I’ll definitely write to the clinic about it anyway, as I think it’s good they get the feedback as I wouldn’t want anyone else to be misinformed 😪

Hopefully we’ve made the right choice 🤞

I personally would lean towards delaying. Progesterone is added in from the point of ovulation (or, in a cycle where you aren't going to be ovulating, from the equivalent point), and one of the things it does it promote changes in your lining to help prepare it for implantation. It's hard to know what impact one stray dose early on would have, but I think I'd tend towards not taking the chance.
