Can anyone shed any light please?

Hi

We’ve been TTC for 14 months and I recently had day 2-5 blood test and day 21.

All the doctors would say is that they were normal with no other explanation and no insights so I wondered if anyone had any further info???

My day 3 results were:
LH 8.4
FSH 8
TSH 4.04

Day 21 progesterone was 35

Hi OP

While your TSH is 'normal' as in they wouldn't normally treat, it is on the high side for TTC. If you were doing IVF they would put you on Levothyroxine to bring it down below 2.5.

Have they given you any next steps such as sperm analysis for partner or referral to fertility clinic?

Your day 21 suggests you did ovulate. I'm not too sure about your other results tho x

If your results are normal get your partner checked then ask for AMH and Antral follicle count

hi, I gave an underactive thyroid, and yes mine is kept below 2.5 for TTC. I'd speak to your GP about this.

how old are you?

FSH looks ok, my hospital like it to be under 10, your LH seems a little elevated.

what other tests have you had done?

Thanks for replies. I haven’t had any other tests done yet. My DH is going to do a sperm test. I’m 35, DH is 34

This is most certainly a thyroid issue, the TSH should be 2.5 or under when TTC and in early pregnancy.

I would think thyroid problems are the root cause of you being unable to conceive to date.

Day 21 shows your ovulating so you are releasing an egg

Thyroid problems are a common cause of being unable to conceive. I was on thyroxine for five years and still didn't conceive. When more detailed blood tests were done it showed high prolactin levels. Prolactin is produced in large quantities when breastfeeding. This reduces the other hormones responsible for egg production/release. This ensures breastfeeding mothers cannot get pregnant immediately after birth securing a milk supply for one baby at a time.

When my thyroxine dose was doubled my prolactin levels fell and I got pregnant quite quickly.

It's important to have a TSH under 2.5 for optimal health but some GPs don't treat with thyroxine under 5.
