'Resting' time after fresh or FET..?

Just curious to know how much 'feet up' time people had after a transfer? What was recommended? Do we reeeeally think it makes a difference?

First FET due on 13th August 🤞🏻after fresh ended in MC at 5 weeks x

In terms of directly following transfer, I get up and go to the loo immediately! And there's definitely evidence to indicate that lying down at that point doesn't have any positive impact (and may have a negative one).

Beings that, I wasn't recommended any time resting (other than a general indication not to do anything too strenuous). And tbh I would have asked for the evidence base if my clinic had attempted to suggest anything of the sort, because I'm not at all sure there is one. But that's mainly because I'd hate too much sitting around doing nothing, so I'll admit I'm biased!

I lay down for 48 hrs and had loads of really really good food and still room temperature water.
The next day I flew short haul.
It was successful, I don’t think a little rest can do you any harm.

I took some annual leave post FET as I have a job which can be quite physical, was nice to just chill for a few days. Now just over 29 weeks with twins - they may well have stuck just the same if I’d carried on as normal though!

I've done both a fresh and a frozen successfully and didn't "rest" for either- was back to work the next day with both.

Have had friends rest up for weeks and not been successful. Not sure what that shows and if it would have been different otherwise.

I have never had any, just off the bed and to the loo then in the car/back to work, in the early days of IVF people did have bed rest but it's shown to be of no benefit and keeping moving although nothing strenuous is what's suggested now

I took over 2 weeks sick leave both times! But both were fresh cycles and I got 20+ eggs. Also I work in healthcare and would not have coped with seeing pregnant women in that time (demanding job at best of times!)

LouLouB1987 · 06/08/2019 22:07

Thank you for all the replies! I guess it just confirms that the advice of 'nothing too strenuous' it the same but different things work for all of us!

I'm only planning on a few days off work this time, hoping the distraction of work will help either way. We've also just bought our first home so busy sorting that (although no lifting!) X

My clinic said not to rest after a transfer, as walking and movement helps the embryo implant in the right place. FETs are more successful overall than fresh as the hormones given to produce the eggs can sometimes impact implantation.
