PGS 2 week wait!

Nats19 · 24/07/2019 14:52

Just sent off 2 good looking blastocysts and 1 borderline for PGS. Last time we sent off 4 and they were all abnormal. I am 35.
Stressing out a bit- anyone else waiting or has positive stories to share??

@LillyLeaf does your clinic ring you or do you get the results in the post?

We re going to do PGS on our next cycle which starts next Month

LillyLeaf · 12/08/2019 13:49

I think they'll ring me as I want to start the next round asap and I've made that very clear. I'm on norethisterone at the moment ready for either outcome. I need to mentally prepare for all abnormal and a fresh round, but it would be great if just 1 was normal.

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 12/08/2019 15:14

I'm having nightmares about the PGS testing that none come back normal

LillyLeaf · 12/08/2019 15:24

Apparently about 50% are normal at my age (36, eggs are 35). I had 5 5day blasts from my first round, already transferred 2, what if those 2 were the goods ones are the rest are abnormal. I'm constantly running the different scenarios around in my head. What if they are all abnormal and our fertility problem is rubbish eggs, where do we go from here!?

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 12/08/2019 17:26

I'm 36 too - my first round showed poor egg quality anyway so we only got 3 blasts out of 14 so I'm not expecting great news either with this next round

LillyLeaf · 12/08/2019 17:34

We had a pretty decent fertilisation rate, 5 5day blasts from 8 eggs and I also seem to get pregnant ok (only with IVF) but they don't stick around for long. It's so frustrating. I'm worried we'll never really find any answers. Even if we get to transfer a normal one I'll still expect to miscarry. I'm also worried if we go into another retrieval cycle we won't do as 'well' as last time.

Hello again,

I just wanted to share that we got a second opinion and it was a breath of fresh air. They suggested amending the protocol with different hormones, using lower doses and taking a 2-month pause to take supplements They also wanted to run further analysis on our mosaic embryo, whereas the other clinic wanted to discard it.

Sometimes it’s just good to get different opinions.

That's good news OP
What supplement shave they recommended? X

Nats19 · 13/08/2019 18:17

CoQ10, melatonin, a supplement called Impryl, and something for my thyroid which is a wee bit high.

@Nats19 that all sounds encouraging.

Still no results for me yet, literally pulling my hair out now. I've also realised I'll probably find out the results during work, so that will be fun.

LillyLeaf · 14/08/2019 19:04

My 3 were all abnormal, totally gutted. So scarred going forward now.

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 14/08/2019 19:35

So sorry @LillyLeaf 💐 xx

Nats19 · 15/08/2019 10:26

I am sorry @LillyLeaf, I really am. But this was your first try no? I do think it’s a matter of keeping going- the doctor in the new clinic said he doesn’t believe a woman is born with all bad eggs. Also, if you have a similar result again, I would really look into getting another opinion. This is such a new area of medicine and there seems to be no certainty.

@Nats19 it was our first retrieval but I have transferred 2 which were MCs so it seems the whole batch were abnormal. I'm worried going forward because I don't make that many eggs, only 8 last time so I don't have much to play with. It's just scary. Although I have been taking ubiquinol since Dec which hopefully would have made a difference for the next round. I've very keen to get started again. I feel like this year has been such a waste.

I had a successful attempt three years ago abroad. I was 34.
Back then I had 2 abnormal out of 6 blasts 6th day.
I did a failed FET so I 'm thinking of trying a new PGS cycle now.
Though worried enough starting after three years cause I don't know how many abnormal blasts I 'll have. I have heard many cases. Some had all abnormal in my age and some other there have been few normal.
Dr have told me that my hormonal tests are good enough and he encouraged me enough that we may have a good result.
