After 6 unsuccessful months on clomid I'm due to start IVF on my next cycle. I'm 37 and have never been pregnant. DH has no children and SA came back ok

My pre- IVF blood tests found my AMH to be low (4.something) and they saw two follicles on my right side and about 8 on my left so I know the odds are against us

On my way out I mentioned to the nurse about DHEA and she was shocked that the Dr hadn't mentioned it and told me to start taking it right away. Of course I've come home, started thinking about things and I'm now wondering if there is anything else I should be doing? So far I am:

  1. Taking general pre-pregnancy multi vitamin
  2. Taking DHEA
  3. Taking Q10
  4. Taking melatonin
  5. Getting acupuncture
  6. Using a personal trainer and dieting (BMI currently 26.7)

We only get one shot at IVF via the NHS so I'm desperate to make sure I am doing all I can. Do any of you know of anything else I could/should be doing?

Don't tell anyone is my advice. Less stress and pressure on you both.
I have read good things about a proper acupuncture treatment prior to ttc.
Good luck.
And remember you are in this together.

Thanks @Mayalready we are not telling anyone, though a couple of my close friends know it's on the cards this year. My mother is desperate to be a grandmother and couldn't cope with her disappointment. Luckily I have a wonderful and supportive DH

Make sure you eat lots of greens. Helped me get a bfp as an older dm. Overhaul your diet, get dh on vitamin c. My friend was recommended her dh take soluble vit c 1000 mg twice a day for 3 months before ivf as sperm has a cycle before peak condition. She had 4 dc via ivf. 3 rounds - last one a frozen embryo.

I would start on the DHEA as you've low AMH and also have a look at Proceive Max supplements which are designed for over 35s and they've got the most "stuff" in them I've found.

I had a failed ivf cycle in February and had a shock about my egg quality so started on 200mg coq10 and Proceive Max - 2 months later got a naturally conceived BFP - unfortunately miscarried but it has given me hope and is the closest we've been in nearly 2 years - will be interested to see if next ivf cycle things have improved?

Also organic full fat milk - glass daily
Low carb high protein diet
Cut out soft drinks as there is a study which showed ivf success rates reduced by as much as 25% if you drank things like coke/diet coke etc

Don’t stop ttc while you wait. Low AMH works in weird ways but often your chances of a natural conception (especially with all the good changes you’re making) can be better than IVF.

Thanks for all the advise. I never knew that about soft drinks. I have cut out caffeine, but the Diet Coke is going to have to go as well. I probably have 2 or 3 a week

Lots of healthy fats in your diet. Avocado, nuts, fish. Google food for good eggs. Also Brazil nuts contain something that aids implantation, I can’t remeber what it’s called but it’s not just a fad. I ate 3 a day throughout my ivf cycle (which was successful) cut out caffeine and alcohol. I also chilled out with a mindful IVF app each night. Good luck!

Actually I told a few close friends and very much appreciated their support. It was a different support than you get from your partner. One of them actually burst into (happy) tears when I rang her to tell her I was pregnant.

I wouldn't make it public knowledge but I'm glad I told the people I did.

I did acupuncture. I don't enjoy it and don't find it relaxing but I have another health condition which I have found it has massively helped.
