Privately funded IVF and BMI levels

Hi.
have just been referred to the Ocean Suite in Plymouth for IVF consideration and was wondering about BMI levels.
1st off we will be privately funded and not through NHS.
Does any one know if privately funded IVF through Ocean Suite has a BMI restriction? I've tried going through their online info and it's not been helpful in obtaining an answer.
Also has anyone been over an ideal BMI and still had successful IVF. if so what has your BMI been. I'm currently 36 but decreasing. TIA.

Most clinics will allow up to 35 for private clients but if your BMI is over 29 be prepared for the consultant to refuse you treat you if you have a PCOS.

The drugs are also more effective when your bmi is closest to the normal range as fat is an endocrine disrupter.

He nhs treats bmi so strictly for ivf as it has a huge impact on he drugs used and whether or not you will ultimately have a baby. I had a bmi of 32 and got it down to 30 and my ivf was successful.

From prior research I'm sure private clinics will accept a bmi of 34/35 but ultimately they are a business, there to make a profit so if it doesn't work you have still paid for it. Know what I mean.

I would take a bit more time and get your bmi close to 30. A low carb high fat diet is the fastest way.

@Teddybear45

Is your post supposed to say 'if you dont have PCOS'

Thanks!

@jinkers11

I have seen a private fertility specialist privately in Bristol.

I have a BMI of 27 and have been told to loose weight. I have PCOS.

Whether they will treat you or not at a higher BMI your chances of it working are much improved by a healthy weight.

Fancy joining me on a mission - I could do with the motivation!!!

You need to prioritise weight reduction over IVF as a high BMI is proven to cause problems in conceiving, a high miscarriage rate and a high stillborn rate and problems in delivering a baby.

Be very wary of any private IVF firm who offer you their services if your BMI is not in the normal range as they are more interested in fleecing you of £££s than telling you the truth about your likelihood of conceiving through IVF and all their expensive add ons.

There has been a lot of discussion about their dishonesty/ failure to tell customers the truth in many reports lately which you can search online to find out about.

It is taboo to talk about the very high impact of a high BMI on conception and pregnancy outcomes so be prepared to face a wall of silence from your IVF provider.
