Clutching at staws

We are unexplained secondary.

Consultant suggested IUI though has said she will give me 3 months of Clomid before if we would like even though she says it isn't proven to work.

I ovulate on my own every month though cycles can be 28-44 days. I did have very short LP but that appears to have sorted itself out and is now 12-14 days. Hycosy also clear and super swimmers on his end.

Anyone had success with Clomid in this sort of situation? Or should we just go to IUI?

Any help or opinions would be grateful.

Clomid will probably give you more joy than IUI. In fact I’d personally skip IUI and go straight to IVF (with full L1/L2 testing to explain your infertility) if Clomid doesn’t work. IUI is usually a huge waste of time and money which is why the NHS usually doesn’t even consider it in a lot of areas

Thank you @teddybear45 from what I've read IUI doesn't come up great.

Go to Care Fertility if you have one near by. Fairly solid advice. The Birmingham and Northampton branches are probably the best but from what I’ve heard they all tend to be fairly sensible about not over-recommending treatment.

Don't have one close by.

Im ok with our clinic. They seem keen for us to just keep trying on our own but 18 months in I don't fancy our chances.

So we have had 6 months of ovulation drugs (clomid and letrozole) and we are also 18 months into trying. For IVF on the NHS where I live, you have to have been trying for 2 years. I asked my fertility doctor whether he thought IUI was worth a shot or whether we should just pay now for IVF. He felt IUI was worth a go, and it also means we can go for IVF straight afterwards on the NHS (even though won’t be 2 years). So will delay IVF by 3 cycles but will then be free.
