NHS IUI wait times

Hi ladies,
Would anyone be able to give me info on approximately how long you had to wait from first appointment to discuss to having IUI recently on the NHS? Are the wait times similar to IVF?
Thanks!

At my clinic as soon as I had the referral and did all the blood tests etc I was able to start IUI the next cycle. Same goes for IVF but I think it depends on the clinic.

@zest11 thanks for your reply. Is that an NHS clinic or private?

Did you have success?

I’ve got my first appointment to discuss IUI on Thursday so I’d be interested to know how you’re getting on. It was April when you posted this.. are you still waiting ?? I’m under Worcestershire CCG and I’ve no idea how long the waiting lists are here specifically but any ball park figure would help!Smile

Hey,

I had 3 IUIs with clomid and none of them worked. Am now moving on to IVF and have started downregging. If you have any questions do ask. Although the process didn't work it got me in a place where I could start IVF as I was so petrified of that before! X

hmmm, I went for my consent appt for IUI last week also with the plan to start next week. Sadly the NHS centre I'm at has a broken scanner (for the 2nd time in a couple of months) so isn't starting any new cycles. Inevitably their will be a backlog next month and they can't guarantee treating. We have actually asked if we can skip straight to IVF and they said yes as I am (mostly) anovulatory. I hadn't really appreciated how long 3 cycles of IUI may take as it seems to be monthly pot luck as to what day your period starts when they don't work weekends. Whilst I'm not ancient (nearly 36 & 40), I don't think we have the time to mess around. IUI success rates not exactly sparkly.

Anaesthetist83 yes I think that's probably the right thing to do. I only did IUI first as I wasn't ready for IVF. Even the clinic said it's not much different to what we've been doing already. Also not sure it would do anything if you are mostly anovulatory.

It would be a stimulated cycle - ovulated on letrozole, so that but shouldn’t be too much of an issue, but it is the mental torture I can’t cope with any longer!

I was referred due to pcos and secondary infertility, it took a few months for ultrasounds bloods and a hcg, then I was prescribed clomid for six months which was unsuccessful. Thankfully when my sixth month ran out they sent an appointment to start iui with injectables the following cycle

Sadly the consultant said no to IUI because we are using frozen sperm following my husbands chemotherapy and they said IUI will waste too much of it. Sorry I can’t help but glad lots of others have replied x
