Vasectomy reversal

Hi everyone,
I’m driving myself mad reading as much as I can online about various clinics and success rates but it’s not the same as hearing from real people! Has anybody recently had vasectomy reversals, and could give me some advice about what clinics you went to / which surgeons you used. Also, if it’s not too cheeky, how much the surgery cost.

We have been quoted anywhere between £2900 and £6100 (😳) for what looks like the same operation. The difficulty seems to be that we would need the more complicated surgery, due to the fact that it has been 15 years since the original vasectomy.

Any advice anyone could give would be very much appreciated! Thank you

Hope things have been going well for the posters who were having treatment. DP’s operation is booked for 29th July, so the countdown is on 🙂

Thanks, Thisizit!

Vasdeferns, great news that you have been able to see swimmers so soon after the op! Good luck with your analysis.

Hi all. Operation went very well. Surgeon tested fluid and saw full sperm, with proper heads and tails which he said is very unusual after such a long time since the original vasectomy.

He managed to do a vas to vas join on both sides, so is optimistic about the results. Semen analysis in 6 weeks, so we will know more then... DP says uncomfortable rather than painful but will keep topped up on painkillers for this week.

@Vasdeferens how was your semen analysis?

Update - we haven’t been TTC, hence the delay. But this morning I found out I am pregnant (5weeks).

Not sure if anyone will see this, but just in case anyone is looking for reversal threads, there can be a successful outcome.

Thanks Derbee. We hope to have a reversal at the Best Life Clinic this autumn. Hopefully optimistic as only 5 years since vasectomy, have proven previous fertility together and I am 32 and DH 30. Was trying to be all relaxed but now really keen to get going. In process of moving house however so just waiting for that.

Oh and congratulations!

Hi @Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear
I don’t know if you still use this app but I thought I would try reply anyway! I just wondered if you went ahead with the operation? we are also thinking about using this clinic. I was just looking online for more information when I came across your post. If this is too personal then I apologise and hope you have a nice weekend. I would have private messaged you but I haven’t figured out how to do that yet lol x

@Derbee congratulations, that’s lovely news! Did your husband take any vitamins or supplements for his sperm if you don’t mind me asking?

Derbee · 26/10/2021 15:57

@snowbabies thank you! It seemed so unlikely, reading my original posts back.

No, he didn’t take anything. I had a whole list of vitamins and supplements for him to take, but he didn’t want to take anything. We agreed that if his semen analysis wasn’t good, he would start supplements. But his results (8 weeks after his reversal) were very good, so he never took anything.

We were also advised to freeze sperm after the operation if we didn’t start TTC immediately, as there’s a chance that scar tissue can grow, and block tubes etc. We didn’t do that either, but conceived easily when we started TTC after 2 years.
