ET thoughts and has this happened to anyone else?

Hi

Could I have your views on my ET and what you would do next, please.

I have just finished my 3rd unsuccessful round of ICSI.

ET was painful, I felt like I was scratched twice while they were trying to get the catheter into the right place. I think at some point the catheter was taken out and a different one used, not sure if this was before or after the scratching.
The whole thing took a long time, last time it was a simple straight in, straight out.
Finally and most worrying for me, the embryo was taken out of the Embryoscope and brought into the room with me, then it was decided the catheter was not in the right place so the embryo was taken back out and put in the Embryoscope again. I don’t know how long it was out.

Has this happened to anyone else? It feels so wrong and like the cycle had no chance.

Should I try again, complain about this, try a different clinic, give up??
Thanks

I also had ICSI, sorry your transfer sounded different from mine.

Did they do a trial run first? With my egg transfers the dr did a dummy run first with an empty tube then the embryos were brought in and transferred. After transfer the tube was taken away to check embryo had been transferred and was not still in tube. I had no pain and the process seemed quick. This was in a clinic abroad as I did not have ivf in the UK. I had 2 egg transfers and the second was successful. Both transfers followed same procedure.

We had a lovely dr who explained what would happen beforehand so we knew what to expect.

I would complain and ask for an explanation of what happened. I would ask why it was different from your previous transfers and express your concerns at what effect the embryo being taken away would have on viability.

Sorry this has happened to you the process is tough enough when everything seems to go to plan. Flowers

My (successful) transfer was quite painful. Apparently there was a curve in my cervix so they really had to muscle the catheter into place. Ow!!!

They only brought the embryo in after they were sure the catheter was in place.

They don’t think it had any effect on the embryo, I’m not so sure it seems really unusual.

I’m thinking of going abroad now but it is hard to pick a clinic!
