'Poor quality' blastocyst experiences/outcomes?

Hi everyone. I'm looking for people's experiences good or bad with low grade embryo transfers.

After a successful fertilisation of 15 eggs, only 4 made it to day 5 blastocyst. The best quality of those was a 3BC which was transferred yesterday. None were deemed suitable for freezing, however I wasn't told what grade these were.

Everything I've read seems to suggest that Grade C trophectoderm leads to very low pregnancy rates, and subsequent high miscarriage rates.

Wondering what other people's experiences or pregnancy outcomes have been?

Hi all 😊came across this thread after lots of googling about low grade blastocysts. My DH and I have just gone through our first round of ICSI. We had 11 eggs retrieved at EC, 7 mature and 4 fertilised. unfortunately only one has made it to blastocyst stage (grade 5BC). Have been told we only have a 10-20% chance and feeling very disheartened. It will be a FET as my clinic (Care) only really offer frozen unless you’re at risk of OHSS.

Should I feel disheartened or just put all my positivity into this one blast? I’m 30 and my DH is 32. I have a slightly low AMH and my DH has low motility and morphology (but his count is fine).

Thanks in advance for any replies!

I came across this thread as I'm having a FET with two poor grade blastocysts later this month - both are 2/3 (early blasts) and B-/C. Definitely not feeling very optimistic but our consultant thought it was worth giving it a shot. I've obsessively googled embryo grades but it's helpful to hear about other's experiences and advice from their clinics.

@sunshineandshowers3 I'd think your chances would be higher than 10-20%: your grades are better than mine and you're younger, and our clinic said they expect a 23% pregnancy rate with embryos of our quality. Having two embryos increases chances apparently by 3-4% (I find it hard to believe it isn't higher, but no dobt this is wishful thinking!) What clinic are you with?

@mummy2bb and @TTCYP how did your transfers work out? Crossing fingers for you!

@sunshineandshowers3 have you checked your DH dna frag? If transfer fails I would investigate this before doing any more ivf.

Hi ladies!
I thought I’d come on here as I’ve recently had a frozen 5BB transfer which unfortunately ended in a chemical pregnancy. I have one left which is a 4BC so was really feeling deflated.

I have just spoken to the consultant who told me to look at ALL Blastocysts as A grades. She stressed that b/c grades should be not be looked into too closely and the fact they made it to the freezing process shows that they have developed well and stand a good chance of making a baby.

I hope this offers others comfort. I have read so many stories of lower grades making the cut so fingers crossed for you all. :-) xx
