Infertility

Anyone had a hysteroscopy or immune testing?

Consultant is recommending both after 3 failed cycles (6 excellent blasts transferred in total). Really blimmin' expensive though.

Is it worth it? Should I bite the bullet and pay up? It's just that it would mean less cash in the kitty for another cycle . . .

If you're going to look at immunes, I'd definitely recommend starting with the Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic at Coventry. It's part of Warwick University, and also part of the major research project Tommy's are running nationally. They're a research centre looking at immune function in the womb lining, and their research has shown that looking at immunes in the blood, using humira/intrallipids/IVIG etc doesn't work because it's not your immune system at fault in the way we'd understood till very recently. They think that the function of natural killer cells in the womb lining can go wrong in some women, with stressed cells building up and then shedding cyclically . They do two womb biopsies, which are ok with gas and air, and they only charge £500 for a consultation, follow up and both biopsies, because they're not for profit and they're not trying to flog you hugely expensive therapies which are still not proven despite having been around for years... I've done both the old-school and Coventry immunes protocols and tbh I am much, much more convinced by their science. tldr; try these guys, they're a heck of a lot more scientifically verified and they cost a fraction of the other places: warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/med/research/biomedical/tem/bru/

That's really helpful, thank you, @Pognut. I'll get in touch with them.

An alternative was to go abroad - apparently I can have immunology (incl NK), hysteroscopy, endometrial scratch (in advance of next cycle), ERA and sperm fragmentation all for £2.5k - in the UK it's coming out at £5.5 total!

I agree though - I'm not convinced by the science behind the immune testing/intralipids etc.
