Eggs with vacuoles? Advice please

Hi ladies, I had ivf last year which resulted in 9 mature eggs of which 4 made it to blastocyst, 5ab 4bb 4bc and 4cc. I had a fresh and then frozen transfer of the best two both of which failed without even a chemical.

I went to a different clinic that picked up on the fact that my eggs were vacuolated which means not good quality and likely to have genetic issues. I’m not sure whether to have another frozen transfer of the remaining two or just to start afresh. I have just had a miscarriage of a natural pregnancy and so hoping I am more fertile now and have a better chance.

Basically does anyone have any experience of eggs with vacuoles and even if not WWYD? I’m paying myself so £1600 for the frozen transfer. I will be moving to a new clinic for the fresh transfer which is £10k there. Thankyou 😘

Vacuoles are found in plant cells?? I've never heard of them being present in animal cells. I don't think it's a good sign...

Thanks for replying @physicskate, I know it’s not a good sign however the consultant said that the fact they got to blastocyst is a good sign and that embryo self correction exists hence why I am even considering whether to transfer them.

I probably should just have another fresh cycle as will likely be worried it’s not going to work now I know about the vacuoles! I was hoping someone might have a positive story to share! X

Hi @Summerloving17 I have to say I don't know about vacuoles! However I had a top grade hatching blastocyst transferred in December which sadly resulted in a CP. So having a top grade hatcher doesn't necessarily mean the embryo is viable and having a "lesser" quality one doesn't mean that it's not viable. There is still a lot that science doesn't know and I think if it were me I'd have them transferred, especially with the consultant saying that it was a good sign they reached blast. I've got one in the freezer from that round that hadn't quite reached hatching stage and I'm going to try with that one next even though it was behind compared to the other one. Good luck with whatever you decide! Xx

Hi OP,

I agree with Wesstywoo. I would give the blasts left a chance before moving on to another fresh cycle. Best of luck whatever you decide to do. X

Thanks ladies really appreciate your replies. My plan is to try another natural cycle if I manage to ovulate on my own again and then frozen before a new fresh. Hopefully it won’t get that far! X
