Lap and HSG - time off work

Hi all

Had my lap and HSG last tues. Wasn't the best outcome but could have been worse.

I was in bed all day the following day and then I've been resting mostly for the rest of the week.

The pain has mostly subsided apart from some twinges around my lap scars, especially at night.

Thing is, after having a bath or popping a bit of washing in etc I'm absolutely exhausted to the point of shaking and needing to sit down. I feel a real wimp.

Gonna try and get gp appointment tomorrow to get signed off (self cert'd for a week) but I feel a bit pathetic saying I'm exhausted so don't feel ready to go back to work... anyone been through this??

TIA

(Also struggling to sleep as you may gather by the time 🙄)

@Nattx
Oooh that all sounds very positive 😊
it took about a week I think to get back to sleeping on my side. Also hate sleeping on my back but you'll get there 😊
I drank loads of peppermint tea for the shoulder pain, heard it recommended at the hospital. It's weird how it was only on my right side as well...
Glad you got your sick note. Take it steady and don't rush back to work. Your health is the most important thing.
Keep in touch 😊 xx

@kikisparks
oh you poor thing ☹️ how very disappointing ☹️ big hugs xxx

I hadn't told OH but he could tell I was sad on the phone so he brought me flowers, pudding and a bottle of wine.... I don't really drink but seeing as AF had arrived I had a big glass of red 🍷

It's hard when you've got other things going on in your life as well to cope with then the monthly disappointment as well doesn't help. I just wanted to think I'd be one of the lucky ones who got preg straight after their lap 🙄 silly me.

Keep in touch won't you xxx

Hi it's me again! I had my surgery on Thursday and everything went really well, no nasty surprises thankfully. I've still got slight shoulder pain on my right side but alot better!
Anyway, on my discharge letter I states to remove my dressings after 3-5 days and leave to air dry and nothing about reapplying any dressings so I didn't bother, I took them off last night which was the 4th day post surgery. What was everyone else's belly buttons like?! On mine I can see old blood but it's very shiney and my belly button hole feels like it's been glued together so I'm thinking they've applied some surgical glue which I also think they did to my left incision as it's small and there isn't any sign of stitches.. I don't really want to start touching my belly button if it has got glue on as it's obviously there for a reason but it's pulling on my skin which is abit irritating but not painful.. After my op they didn't mention if it had been glued or anything so now I'm thinking is it glue as it feels and looks it or is it just old hard blood but then I'm scared to pull at it gently see if it will separate incase it's stuck to any stitches. OMG now I'm flapping haha I'll shut up now since you'll get the jist of what I mean x

Hi @Nattx after my lap, I had stitches in all, no sign of any glue. Found the best thing for old blood was a bath... softened it right off. It took a couple of weeks before the stitches dissolved enough to pull off though (weird...a good cm came out though I stopped at any sign of snagging and left it for a few more days! )

kikisparks · 19/02/2019 19:28

@Nattx mine was just two sets of stitches and dried blood, no glue. The stitches are still in and it’s getting itchy as it heals. The first week I didn’t really touch it except to gently wash in shower (with water only) and pat dry.

Nattx · 20/02/2019 00:31

Panic over I got a nice warm shower at last and most of it washed away it must of been mostly dry blood as it feel loads better now. I've looked on my cuts and I can't see any stitches at all unless they've fallen out already I'm not sure. He did say they were dissovable so maybe! My belly button looks a weird shape so maybe there is some in there I can't actually see and I don't want to feel around and end up infected so I'm just leaving it as it is, I patted dry and then got the hair dryer out to make sure my belly button was completely dry. Haven't bothered putting any dressings back on as they seem to be healing pretty well (fingers crossed). Most of my soreness seems to be from the bruising rather than the cuts themselves but it's not by any means painful. What we put ourselves through just to conceive ey!? 🤭

Was anyone on here who's had ovarian drilling put straight onto clomid for the first cycle? If so what dosage? I've had 6 rounds prior 4 at 50mg and 2 at 100mg which only the first 50g worked then nothing after that. They want me to start clomid but never said what dosage or anything and my AF is here and the clinic is closed :(

custardtarts · 20/03/2019 16:31

Hi did you get your lap done on the NHS or privately? How long did you wait / how much did it cost?
I've just had a failed FET and my clinic mentioned a possible lap being needed as there is maybe a cyst or hydrosalpinx on my left side (which is a bit weird since I don't have a tube that side 🤷‍♀️)! X

Nattx · 20/03/2019 16:51

I had my lap and dye with ovarian drilling done on the NHS this was booked in on my last appointment at the ACU clinic with the consultant which was 18th December and had it done on the 14th of February. My pre OP assessment was done 2 weeks before that too.

squirrelnutkins1 · 20/03/2019 16:58

Lap was done on NHS. I had to wait about 4.5 months and that was a cancellation slot.
I think privately it's 2500-3500 depending on what they have to do when they get in there.
When I start AF I have to start taking Letrozole days 2-6 which I think is the same thing as Clomide.
Sorry to hear your struggles ☹️ @custardtarts

Thanks @squirrelnutkins1
I'm not convinced it's hydrosalpinx as I've got no tube but think my ivf clinic is just covering bases if I have another failed transfer.
I think I'll see whether I can get an NHS referral in the meantime x
