Infertility
IVF on NHS

Hi there, im new to this forum but have seen some really helpful posts so thought id ask some questions here. My story is that I had 2 ectopic pregnancies in 2017 (one in the left and one in the right), i luckily havent had to have any tubes removed but they are very damaged. In the middle of 2018 we were referred for infertility investigations. We had lots of tests etc and they have said we will need IVF to conceive. We had our first referral appointment june 2018 and a couple since but weve just been given our 'top of the waiting list' appointment for april and an information evening in march. This is all at james cook hospital. Just wondering what the next steps are, whats going to happen at the top of the waiting list appointment and then after that? What kind of timeframe are we looking at?
Thank you in advance for any advice.
We are pretty young and im not from this part of the country so have very little support so nobody knows we are even going through this yet.

It depends on the rules in your area. In mine if the woman is over 35 or has known fertility issues then she will be bumped up the queue for NHS referrals (I have a 28 year old friend who has been on the waiting list for nearly 3 years as a result). But the NHS does everything from tests to procedures to clomid / injectables / metformin /aspirin so while the wait is long you are still getting some treatment.

Hi @2ectopics
My background is, DH and I have been trying since May 2017 I'm 27. Mc in the September (suspected ectopic) but nothing since.
Was referred to fertility clinic September last year, then in November after two SA from DH was told we need ICSI
They said to go away and do some research, go to an open night about it
We went back on January 8th to confirm we wanted to go ahead with it
Paperwork appointment to sign everything and be sent for blood tests is 14 February and they've said we should be able to start in March
I'm not sure if this is just depending on area or clinic though.
I'm under 35, but been told there's a slim chance of conceiving naturally
It'll be about 6 months from referral to fertility clinic to starting treatment
I've been told by the clinic there is no waiting list
(I'm NHS btw)
