Dear foxy84,
Please don’t despair. I too know how it feels to be given such a shocking diagnosis. I had fertility testing after having suffered a ruptured ectopic and losing a tube at 36 (no children). I was told my AMH was really low (forgotten number now) and FSH 17! I assumed I was essentially perimenopausal. Luckily my fertility specialist was happy to not give up on me and seemed to think there was some hope. I felt the opposite.
We went on to have a cycle of IVF and managed to get 4 eggs (miracle after really high doses of drugs). One stuck and my daughter is now 3 months old.
One thing I have learnt from all of this, is that the fertility tests are just ONE piece of the puzzle. They do not tell you if it’s possible for you to have a baby. The most important thing is your age and at 34, you are considered young for the fertility world! So what I’m trying to say it please don’t think it’s game over. You just don’t know. I didn’t change my lifestyle (love chocolate Smile) prior to treatment. The only thing I did do was take DHEA a few weeks before IVF (but some clinics discourage that - I never asked!).
You’re not alone and there is always hope xxx

Hiya

My AMH is also low too and was told I have low ovarian reserve. I was wondering if those that had success conceiving naturally had any male fertility factor as well?

@foxy84 try to get your hubby to have some tests too just to make sure everything is ok on his side.

Hi,
I was diagnosed with low ovarian reserve about a month ago after TTC for 3.5 years. My AMH level is at 2.9 and my doctor said there was no point of going for IVF with own egg as chance will not increase. I came out of the appointment in total shock as it was the last thing I expected to hear.

I will go for a HCG next cycle. This process will help clear my fallopian tubes (just in case there is a blockage). Some did fall pregnant after this procedure but there is no solid scientific evidence. Hubby and I have decided to give it a shot and see what happens.

Don't give up hope. Believe that body can do it and stay positive. That's my remedy at the moment.

Much love to you all

Hi everyone,
I am new to this thread - hope it’s ok to join. Sorry so many of you are going through this. Oul79, I Just wanted to ask if you went for the HSG in the end? I am 36 and was disgnosed yesterday with low egg reserve (can’t remember the number - it was all a bit of a blur) and IVF recommended. We are about to move house in November so thinking of putting IVF off until the new year as we can’t afford that many rounds and worried the stress may impact on chances (although a bit worried about further decline in the meantime). We were going to try HSG in meantime (we were lucky to conceive just after the HSG last time after trying for 3 years - although I don’t think I had low egg reserve then....). Anyway, I hope it works for you. Any advice or tips gratefully received xxx

Hello tryin4no2,

I will have my HSG in my next cycle in a couple of week time. I will put some update here afterwards.

I have recently made the drastic decision to stop working for a little while in order to focus better on our baby plan. I was asked to make a lifestyle change 2.5 years ago as I was a lot under stress and pressure from work; I did not follow the advice and thought I could do it all; it did not work.

My hubby and I discussed the situation in depth and he encouraged me to pause my career and have a break for few months. I am going to give it a go and try to relax as much as I can.

We have our first consultation for mild IVF and another detailed Scan on 21 Aug. I am anxious to hear if that new technology can help us. We are also going to visit few more clinics to get as much info as possible before making our final decision.

We hope HSG will help somehow but as there is little scientific evidence, we need to remain realistic and cautious.

I saw you have been for donor egg, what was your experience. It is something we would be prepared to consider.

Thanks

Oul79 · 09/08/2019 16:14

Sorry tryin4no2 - disregard question on donor egg - was on another post.

HavelockVetinari · 09/08/2019 16:43

Start taking DHEA and CoEnzyme Q10 immediately. They've been shown to dramatically improve egg quality and quantity for patients with low AMH.

Tryin4no2 · 09/08/2019 18:36

Oul79 That sounds like a good plan - stress certainly makes things harder. I read a study which Harvard did about the HSG which did show elevated hormone levels which supported fertility for 3 months post the HSG procedure but that’s only part of the equation - worth a shot though. Wishing you lots of luck.

Thanks v much Havelock for the tips - I already take CoQ10 but not tried DHEA - I was a bit worried about side effects as I already seem to have a bit of a hormone imbalance (just to add to the list of issues!) Did you experience any?

ckc45d10 · 10/08/2019 15:58

Yes, DHEA is a hormone and can affect hormone levels. It is better to check with your doctor on this and even test blood levels. For CoQ10, forms that are water and fat-soluble absorb better.

Hello,

Has anyone used Assured Fertility or Access Fertility before undergoing any IVF plans?

Thanks in advance
