We found out this week my DH vasectomy reversal didn’t work. We are now looking at ICSI as a plan of action. He has 3 DD from a previous marriage and is 46, I’ve never TTC until 12 months ago and I am 32 with no reason as yet why I can’t conceive. We have been given recommendations from our surgeon who performed the vasectomy reversal operation and as I’m in Brisbane Australia I’m not looking for recommendations. I’m looking for people who have tried the procedure and been successful or failed. What were the hardest parts? Was it worth it? What do I need to be aware of? That sort of thing any info would be wonderful x

Hi BritinBrisbane

We have had ICSI with TESE which has resulted in us having some day 5 blasts to freeze, we will be returning in the new year for transfer.
Tbh you will get advice saying DH should take supplements and get healthy, it won't hurt to do this but my DH tried this and it didn't help, that is why we had to go for TESE. My DH is 47.
I did everything on my end to make sure I had the best quality eggs I could.
We also froze some vials of sperm so he wouldn't have to undergo surgery again in the future.

I was ok, didn't really have any aide effects apart from the first few days when I got terrible headaches from the Gonal. Followed advice I found on here to drink Gatorade and they disappeared. I had no problems injecting myself and other than the headache I sailed through. Trigger shot was also easy, minimal bloating and no pain. We went shopping after egg collection, for me it was quite smooth. I know others aren't so lucky. I cant account for transfer side effects as we went with a freeze all cycle.
DH walked like a penguin for a few days but he was ok after about 7 days, just had to keep his stitches and bandages clean

You are welcome. I think the hardest part for me was the tv scans to check how my follicles were growing. It got to a point were I was having them daily and I remember I knew my pelvic floor muscles were affected so had to strengthen them after it was all over

Just gone through ICSI with my wife and we're now 6 weeks pregnant, a little different for us as we're same sex so we shared the load in terms of treatments.

It has been intense though and very expensive but it's worked we have our first scan this week.

Scans, drugs and visits to the clinic were intense.

Just waiting to find out if we have twins now!!
