IVF Treatment Plan?

Hi All

I have an appointment for my IVF treatment plan on the first week of November.
What will actually happen at this meeting? When am i likely to start treatment/egg collection?
I know they will explain all this to me in the meeting but I would really like to know when they will likely be planning treatment.
My appointment will be on around the 5th day of my period if that has any significance.

We have a holiday booked at the end of November for one week so due to this do you think they will defer treatment until the new year as I assume there won't be many people around in December?

Any info greatly received!

Your guess is honestly better than ours... some places have waiting lists, others want more tests... we'd be guessing, which honestly isn't helpful.

Go in with the lowest possible expectations and anything else is a bonus (low expectations would be more tests and a waiting list of a year).

It used to be you start sniffing on the first day of your period (if I remember correctly). In theory your ovaries can be switched off in a few weeks.

They then do a base line scan to determine you are in a drug induced menopausal state.

This is where they coast you, they give you a floating slot. You carry on sniffing the medication until they have a gap for you to start treatment.

Some of my cycles I got the call and started injecting after a few weeks of sniffing. For some I was coasted for up to 6 weeks before starting injections.

You really can't tell as it's down to clinic how they arrange their slots.

Clinics will have cut off dates in Nov and Dec for long and short protocols so a lot of people having consultations now won't start until the New Year, like PP said every clinic is different, if it's your first appt you will likely need further investigations, protocol and meds arranging and injection teach/consent appointment then some clinics have a system where only so many start per month so the wait can be 3-4 months.
