lycopene for poor sperm

Hey, just wanted to see if anyone had tried lycopene supplements to help with sperm quality.
We have mfi and I'm trying to give anything a go before we go down the icsi route next year.
Hubby is already on the wellman conception vitamins, and i read a case study that lycopene can help improve sperm by up to 70%. (Obviously different factors are involved for those results)

The fertility told my DH to take proceed plus, it's pretty expensive though, but we have just found a Superdrug version which is half the price so he is now taking that

A tin of heinz tomato soup (full of lycopene) every day for 3 months was enough for my brother's sperm count to go from bordering infertile to in the high millions. The doctor said he was very impressed and the count was the highest recovery he'd ever seen in a bloke in his 40s.

They also got pregnant 2 cycles later after years of trying.

@pumpkin18 we were told to look at proceed and it is so pricey like you said. So was looking for alternatives to try. And lycopene seemed promising. We are gunna give it 6 months and then see what happens.

@alphabravo fingers crossed it works then. Hubby doesn't like tomato's, so he wouldn't eat soup but we will give anything a go to see if it helps.

@white13 if he really wants it then he will just have to 'like' it for a few months. Wont kill him 😁👍

White13 · 29/09/2018 09:14

🤣😂🤭 he's happy to take anything. X

Yes yes yes to tomatoes!

My brother, who's also doing IVF, took a couple of tablespoons of tomato purée daily and like another poster said, completely turned around his sperm results.

As a result my partner did it too (although didn't need to) and his sperm results are outstanding, and off the scale.

It's certainly a bollock-friendly supplement, as diets high in it apparently lead to a lowering of risk of prostate cancer (I haven't looked in to the quality of evidence behind that view, though)

But it certainly falls into the category of 'no harm in trying' as it's simply a case of eating a little more of an ordinary foodstuff. Even though he doesn't like tomatoes, finding a way to get purée/concentrate into him frequently seems like the best step. But perhaps you'll need to find a better way of telling him to get on with it than 'just suck it up'

@meditrina the only way I can get it in him is through tablet form. He is more than happy to try anything.
Thank you everyone who commented I just wanted to know about personal experiences and you all seem so positive.
Which makes me think it is a good move.
